My 23 horse kawasaki bake fires when warmed up under a little load like going from forward to reverse or turning while cutting grass why

..it won't go forward or backwards??.. what..??...HOW are you going to cut grass??.. cutting in one spot doesn't help much huh..??... Is this a riding mower?.. 0-radius turn?...
Seriously.. since we do not know what type of mower you have.. here goes: Take it to a qualified professional.

1. The drive chain is broken or come off the sprockets.
2. Your drive has failed.

There's 2 cables that go into my outboard. ... It would have forward just fine but it would not shift into reverse. Assuming it's a wheel boat does the throttle handle go intoreverse but reverse doesnt work or does it not even ... Whether you're researching a new boat, or are a seasoned Captain, ... and it was notengaging fully into forward gear, but into reverse just fine. ... Check the oil to make sure you don't have gas getting in your oil. If that's not a problem then you may have a leaking head gasket.

check the drive belt on hydraulic pump under you seat

recheck the valve lash clearance

There should be a pulley that the brake/clutch petal pulls against to disengage. You could have a problem with that. You will have to turn it by hand to check and see. Check the main drive belt while you are in the area. It may be helpful to remove the deck so you can slide up under there get a good look.

hydrostatic transmission has reached the end of its life. Call a dealer and get a price to repair, then contrast that amount with the cost of a new mower. Those transmissions are not cheap, you may find folks selling them NOS on eBay, certainly worth a few minutes googling around before you lay down the bucks. Do not buy a used transmission.

a lot of problems here.try this.[grass buildup]. usually cause by damp grass or blades not going fast enough to throw into box.engine cutout is then caused by grass jamming blade[s]. backfire is usually too much choke or wrong petrol/air mixture.re bent grass.try cutting driving in reverse[if strip is wide cos of back tyre then blade is uneven.]

make sure the trans. linkage can operate freely. Had the same problem,it was just a build up of grass and dirt.
