Hi, i have a 2012 Toyota rav 4 on Tuesday at 5.35pm i used the remote and the car start up but after iparked when I press lock to close the car door it will not lock and there was a continueous sound the sign showing a door is not lock is highlighting when i use the key on the handle it will close but the sign a door is open is still showing and the remote can still open and start the car. i never had this problem before

Check the child lock. If it does not open from earlier side then inner panel needs to go out snd see what's heppend. Not sure how locks designed on it, it could be that power lock actuator lever snapped from it's place

programing a remote is not hard but it is timing is every thing!
set up. driver's door open all others closed.
all movements are done at one second intervals.
1 insert the key in the ignition and remove it twice
2 close and open the door twice.
3 insert and remove the key once
4 close and open the door twice.
5 insert the key
6 close door
7 rotate key to run back to off and remove.
(locks should cycle once)
8 press both the lock and unlock buttons for a second on the remote.
9 press the remote's lock button (locks should cycle once more)

try takeing the door panel off and check to see if the rod came out of the lock button.

Do the doors unlock when the remote starter is not running? If so, then you to connect to a different set of door lock wires.I usually connect to the factory alarm and disarm wires in the driver kick panel. They are blue for arm and pink for disarm. You test them by turning the key in the drivers door.

1. get in the car
2. shut the door
3. place the key in the ignition
4. lock the doors, manually
5. turn the ignition to on then off...do this seven times
6. unlock the doors and try your remote

The actuator for the power locks is probably frozen or bad, or else the wiring has broken to it. Or, the body control module is bad.

check if the battery needs to be replaced

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode,have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition,the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote,the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have,steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession,you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.
