One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers also you might uninstall the display adapter restart your computer then reinstall the display adapter and its drivers this would apply to the sound video and game controllers to hope this helps

My Girlfriends Compaq Presario sr1920nx has lots of problems... the one right now is the display. I replaced her monitor with another used one because it died. Now the one I just put on won't stay on, you...

Please check your cable, video settings, video card drivers and your monitor settings.

Also test the monitors on another computer. If they turn on while connected on another computer then your problem is your video card on your problem computer, that's if all else fails. This would mean that you would need to replace your video card.

So let's begin. It's obvious checking your video cable is pretty easy.
Ensure that both ends of the video cable are plugged in nice and tight and secure. Usually this video cable is blue at the ends.

Check your Video Card Driver

Go to your device manager in Windows.
Nagivate to Control Panels/System/Hardware Device Manager in Windows XP.
In Windows Vista and 7, Navigate to Control Panels, System, Device Manager
Look in Monitor and see if there is a yellow question mark or exclamation mark. If there are then right click on them and update the driver. Also while you're in here, go ahead and make sure there are no yellow question marks or exclamation marks. IF there are then go ahead and right click and update the drivers. You will need internet access for this. Follow the prompts to completion.

Let me know if this solves your problem.
