Top screen looks cracked, fixable?

any crack in the screen will need replacing it weakens the screen and can shatter. also the picture don't look good. would change the screen.

really interestinh hoe cheap these things are made ... try shaking it to fix he connector ... otherwise not fixable

The problem will stem from the cracked right hand hinge and the ribbon and wire that connects to the top screen may have some damage that will be causing the other issue's. The console will require a complete new housing or you may be able to pick up a second hand part from console repair shop, they may have a top section spare that will save on a full housing repair. That will solve the hinge, but a top screen may be also required!!

buy a new top ds lscreen, good and cheap place is www.dealextreme.com with free delivery. its tricky job though so better if someone who has knowledge does the job, otherwise there are reliable ppl online that qoute good prices 4 fitting new screens.

If you have a warranty send it to Nintendo to fix it.They'll might replace the screen.If there unable to fix it or don't have a warranty just buy a new one.(PS.The games he'd play on the old ds dosen't save the games on it.It saves on the DS game card.)Hope I could help.

Replace upper screen and the Upper front bezel.
Or replace the upper screen and the complete DS Lite Housing. You can find them on the well known auction sites. Please be aware that you must know what your are doing. If in doubt, send it to Nintendo or a local Nintendo repair service

I have tried plenty of ways but this plastic cant be pasted easily and the hinge crack the junction again so basically you need a new hinge piece, something saddly cant be bought alone, you need to buy a whole shell.

If not under nintendo 1year warranty, the best thing you can do to kill this problem is take the DS to a videogame repair service to replace the shell before the top screen or the whole DS suffer more damage. You can also consider to buy and change the shell by yourself. The bad new is anyway you need some money to repair it.

You can use the DS carefully meanwhile the top part dont get completelly out of place.

Might be worth taking it into a phone repair shop to see if they can replace the LCD screen. (yes, a phone repair shop - a lot of them do portable console screens too!) If they can't do it, it's probably unfixable realistically.

Get a tri winged screwdriver (can be bought from www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/nintendo-wing-screwdriver/p-1169.html) take the rubber pads off and undo your DS. Check the screen connections attatched to the speaker circuit board and the connections on the main circuit board. If the cable looks to have a slight crack in it or looks to be excessively bent the buy a new connector. Sounds like the screen is broken. It may be fixable, but you're likely better off buying a new DS.
