Honda generator 1400 eg runs for 30 seconds then stalls out

it is not any kind of car or truck,so moved you to portable elect gas generators.
does it burn gas/petrol or LPG?
with engine stalled, oil lamp on is 100% normal
but never at the time of stall (or just before)
the oil pump runs off the crankshaft is why.
new spark plug is cure. i bet.
or use chock longer.
carb, gasoline , petrol.
if spark tip is in raw fuel , turn off chock and crank it dry.
the gen has many buttons switches make sure all are set correct for sure on./off .
is it elect starter or hand cord cranked or both?

THERE COULD BE SEVERAL CAUSES; THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR, THE CARBURETOR, THE OIL LEVEL. ALL NEED TO BE CHECKED.

check oil level you should have it up to the first thread of filler hole without it over spilling if so drain to proper level if oil is contaminated with fuel and over filled your carburetor float may be stuck open,if so have the carburetor cleaned or serviced or you can try and clean it yourself.give me an update of your status,honda tech for 30 years

Make sure that the spark arrester screen on the exhaust isn't plugged with carbon. It takes just thirty seconds to pull it out. If it is clean, then the fuel filters are the next step. Hope that helps. Rod

As silly as this sounds, Harbor freight toold generators by "Predator" will shut down if the generator is not on level ground, and the oil level is not at the desired level, crazy but there is an inbuilt oil level sensor. maybe this might be the answer. hope iy helps, good luck.

Take and plug in a variable speed drill now when your generator is powered up slowly hit the trigger on the drill start it at low speeds run it for 30 seconds then give it half speed for 30 then full speed fo 30 seconds then try your chop saw

With regrets, I do not have any personal experience with generator troubleshooting. However, I have been informed by some people that have good experience with them that a generator needs to be run for a couple of hours every month to keep the system in proper order. Should a generator sit idle for ten months, the fuel can actually "shellac" inside the carburetor and lines. This will then travel to areas that will gum up - thus the necessity to drain the tank and carburetor completely.

Your service person(s) may not be aware of the time the unit sits idle, and if they are aware - then they are not giving you straight facts (in my opinion). I would suggest contacting Honda customer service directly, and explain this situation to them - they will probably be more then happy to have a technician assist you properly. It may be old fuel and the spark plug is fouled.

Recheck for spark when it stalls. If you have lost spark I would say a heat damaged coil.

You should also drain and inspect the carb bowl. You may have low fuel flow which limits full throttle operation to 30 minutes or less. When it dies you are just refilling the bowl for the next run.

sounds to me like a grounding issue. I would check all my ground paths and look for poor connection or corroded contacts, broken or almost broken wires etc. Hope this helps :)
