I need to unlock the regional code on my DVD player

Hi, I am trying to unlock the regional code for my LG RH397D / RH399D (not sure which it is...). One suggestion has been to go into the settings menu and when scrolled down onto the padlock, to key in '0' seven times before another message appears. This has not worked after several attempts. Plenty of people suggest it is very easy to unlock regional codes on DVD players including my LG version, so I am starting to suspect I am ridiculously stupid or that people are offering generalised advice on a topic they have no idea about. Am hoping one of your experts can save me some severe frustration... Cheers

Thanks for that but it definitely hasn't solved the problem. Have tried and retried this method several times without success.

I have just done the above and it worked a treat - easy!

The code I found from a trusted website says:

  1. Press SETUP
  2. Scroll down to the padlock icon
  3. Press 0 seven times
    • Confirmation message appears
  4. Press ENTER
Which sounds like what you're doing already. This is for RH399D. RH397D may be different.

My LG RH397D HDD wont recognise dvds any more

The only thing you can do is try a DVD cleaning kit and follow instructions, if that fails the laser pickup assembly will need to be replaced, but this would be to expensive and far cheaper to replace the player.

Our LG RH397d/rh399d DVD / Hard drive recoreder will only turn on and display the Hallo message, and you can hear a clicking sound from in side. I have remove the power cord no change .

Your DVD drive is having a problem. When this recorder starts, it checks the DVD drive for correctness. If incase your DVD drive is has problem in the ejecting mechanism then this will prevent your HDD from working correctly. Take the player to service center and fix the drive
