I have Windows 8 installed on my computer and am trying to print using my HP Injet j4680. Everytime I attempt to print, I get the message, "Printer is in an error state." I cannot delete the last document in the queue. It has been deleting for four days now. How do I get it to actually delete the document so that it will print what I want printed?

Try installing the latest drivers from the website. To download:
1 Go to hp.com 2 Click on Support and Drives 3 Enter your product name or number, in this case just type in Officejet 8500 All-In-One 4 Hit go 5 Choose your operating system 6 Hit Next 7 Click on the link that says Driver - Product Installation Software 8 Save it to your desktop
But before Installing the Software, use the Disc that came with the printer so you can do an L3_Uninstall first.

To go for an L3_Uninstall:
1 Go to My Computer (XP), Computer (Vista and Win7) 2 Right Click on the Driver CD, The one that has the HP Logo 3 Open Util 4 Open CCC 5 Double Click on the icon that says Uninstall_L3
The Uninstall will prompt you to restart the computer once it's done. After doing so, Install the newly downloaded software.
Try scanning again, I hope this worked. :)

Your printer software is outdated with the operating system your are using. Try to download and install printer driver for windows 7. Just go to websearch and type the printer model like this "HPofficejetJ4680 driver for windows 7" or try this link and it might help you. http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/947/

you need to download the appropriate drivers for the win 7 pc.

WEll, you are short of information but I'll take a stab:
the printer needs to be connected to your router, then you need to use the INSTALL program and NOT plug and play or Windows install printer, to have the printer work wirelessly, on each system.

Remove sharing from host computer, which is likely usb wired to the printer.

Please install the printer software and try to scan via the installed software from the computer. Or, start scan using scan button from printer; after installing software.

Solution:

Please use the originai catridges for this printer and there will not be any issues.

In spite of this, the problem continues, please call the local HP Authorized Printer vendor to solve this problem.

If the Printer is under warranty, you will get a replacement printer with same or the higher configuration which is available in the market.

Quite simple: down load the installation file from the HP web site.
