If in case the cd was not recognized upon loading it to the computer you may do the following to check wether the cd is faulty or the cd drive.
Verify that the correct disc (CD/DVD) is used when prompted to insert the disc.
For programs on DVD, verify that the drive containing the DVD is a DVD drive and not a CD-ROM drive. Most DVD drives will have DVD printed on the front of the drive. For programs on DVD, consider the following:
DVD drives can read both DVD's and CD's.
CD-ROM drives can read only CD's.
If multiple disc drives (e.g., CD-ROM and CD-RW, or DVD and DVD-RW, or CD-ROM and DVD-RW, etc.) exist on the computer that can read the disc (refer to the items under Step 2), insert the CD or DVD into the other drive and try the program again.
If you are attempting to install a program and the installation does not begin after inserting the CD/DVD into the proper drive, refer to the program's instructions for the installation procedure.
Clean the CD/DVD in the following manner:
Place a small amount of nonabrasive liquid soap on the shiny side of the CD/DVD.
Using your fingertips and warm water, gently rub the soap on the CD/DVD in a circular motion.
Rinse the CD/DVD thoroughly and dry it using a clean, soft T-shirt or lint-free towel. (Do not use paper towels or tissue paper.)
Try to use a different CD or DVD in the drive to see if that disc can be read.
If possible, insert the problem CD or DVD into the DVD or CD drive of another computer to see if the issue persists.
"The disc is not recognized in the DVD camcorder. The disc has been finalised in a camcorder manufactured by another company."
In plain English this means that the disc must never have been used in another DVD recording device.
It further states:-
"The supported discs are DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW. Use a new disc."
Double check that you are using DVD-RW and not DVD+RW. They are NOT the same although many devices can use both types. Your camera only uses the DVD- standard and not the DVD+ discs.
If you are using new discs which have never previously been used and if the discs are of the correct type, then you have a faulty camera which will need repair or replacement.

According to the user's manual, for DVD+RW or DVD-RW discs, it may take some time for the disc to be recognized and then it has to format the disc prior to using it. This should be an automatic process when the disc is inserted (looking at page 17 of the owner's manual). If this is not happening, you may need to clean the DVD with a DVD cleaner (a DVD disc with tiny brushes that wipe the lense on the unit while the disc spins). You could first try using a can of compressed air and blowing any dust/dirt out of the DVD slot (with the tray open).
I not sure as to which type of Discs that you are refering to (ie DVD+R or DVD+RW). This player will only recognize 4x (max) DVD+RW and 8x (max) DVR+R discs. If the DVD+R Disc is 16x, the DVD recorder will not recognize it once you start to record. The player will read the blank Disc and give the impression that it will record on it. I have noticed that when a 16x speed Disc is in the Drive, The recordable hours for the disc seems to double. The normal 6 Hour recording length comes up as 12 Hours when you hit the info button. Since the 8x Speed (max) discs are not available any longer, I found it best to use the DVD+RW 4x Discs and make it compatible. I then copy the compatible DVD+RW disc to a 16X DVD+R disc using my computer DVD burner. The DVD+RW disc can then be erased so that it can be reused.
The problem still is;nt fixed. I bought the dvd recorder from a person that buys customer returns at an auction. I contacted him and he offered to give me a full refund or another recorder. He thought it might be a software problem. Thanks for getting back to us on this problem.
