i used my samsung player yp-u2j with napaster. the songs expired and now i cannot get them off the player. the player is not recognized in napster or windows media player to remove the songs. my player shuts itself down when i turn it on and when i plug it into my computer the device manager pop up goes on and off but does not recognize the player from that point forward. the player will only charge the battery and thats it. my player is now useless and i am very upset after spending money on it.

I cannot use my player. I used it with napster and the files expired. now my player is full and I am not capable of removing the files from the player. the player will not register on windows media player or napaster to remove the files. The device manager flickers at the bottom of my computer and will not recognize the player from that point forward. When I connect to my computer is only charges the player and that is it. Please help and I cannot use the player now.

I received this as a gift and it already had music on it. I want to edit on Windows media player, to add titles, move to different places, etc. When I try to find my mp3 player, it will only locate in SYNC. It will only let me delete songs or add songs. I can not listen to music from the mp3 player on the computer, nor can I move or edit. Please help. There were no disks or info from the person I received it from.

Symptoms:

  • The first time the device is connected to the PC after installing WMP11, the device is recognized and music syncs correctly
  • When attempting to use the device again, Found New Hardware bubble appears and then flashes between several messages including MTP Connected, Don't Disconnect, MTP Device found, MTP Device may not work properly, or There was a problem during installation.
  • Device may constantly appear and disappear in Device Manager or appear with an exclamation point indicating an error.
  • Device may not appear in My Computer
  • Uninstalling WMP11 and using WMP10 corrects the issue
  • Using the device on another PC or laptop works flawlessly
There is a known issue with WMP11 and many MTP devices by various manufacturers. This is not specific to Samsung but Microsoft recommends a driver or firmware upgrade from the manufacturer to correct the problem.  If neither is available, the user is instructed to roll back to WMP10.
Please verify the firmware version currently on your MP3 player (Menu > Settings > System > About). US Firmware Version 1.136 is the current version (as of 2/28/07) posted on Samsung.com.  If you are using an earlier version, you should download the current one.  Even If you're running the current version 1.136 or there is a newer version available in the Download Center, you are strongly advised to continue with the instructions below for Updating the firmware AND Formatting the Data area.
IMPORTANT:  Failure to format the data area as indicated in Step 7 below will result in unresolved issues.  You must Format the Data area which will cause you to lose all data on the device.
To Update Firmware:
  1. Download the YP-U2J Updater Utility from the Download Center (Firmware Tab)
  2. Unzip the file and run Setup.exe to install
  3. After the installation is complete, press and hold down the play button on the device while connecting the device to the PC. (If done correctly you will see a window appear on your computer for PLAYER RECOVERY DEVICE CLASS). If this does not appear, try resetting the unit while connecting to the PC
  4. A Windows pop-up screen will appear indicating [Install player recovery device class]. (Select automatically for the installation option) After installation this window will disappear.
  5. Click the updater program icon on your desktop or click Start > Programs > Samsung YP-U2J Updater
  6. Continue holding the play button until the "Found New Hardware" bubble appears.
  7. Check the box near Format Data Area and click Start.
  8. Once complete, click Close
  9. Disconnect the YP-U2J and reconnect it as usual.
  10. The device should now appear in both My Computer and in Windows Media Player.

YP-U2JXB & YP-U2JZW Won't sync...Help!

Error C00D1236 virtually always indicates one of two things:

1) The device is trying to sync hidden files--are there any?
2) There is licensed media that is being synced, and the license is either corrupt or has expired. If you have any licensed media, then try going back to where you purchased it (in an iTunes-like music management program? In WMP?) and refresh/renew the license.

The bad news is that until C00D1236 is resolved, you can't sync your device. frown.gif

You can bypass syncing, and directly transfer files, In my computer, the mp3 plaer will be shown as a drive.

Now if one of the two solutions above is not feasible for u, try this:

In case you have a problem to connect your Samsung YP-U2J Mp3 player, you should update Firmware to get it working. The new Firmware may be downloaded from Samsung.com.
