Make sure the spark plug ignites. Take tool apart as in cleaning. Hold micr switch near fan and watch as you pull trigger. you will see a spark. If not check the lead to igniter
I had the same problem with my angled finish nailer. After pulling
apart the nailer to clean it and check all the wiring, I discovered
that the wire from the spark plug, where it connects to the trigger,
was not fully engaged/inserted. There is about 1/8" to 3/16" of
insulation stripped from the wire's end that allows the wire to insert
into the base of the sealed trigger mechanism. I made sure the wire was
fully seated and applied some glue to the point where the insulated
wire leaves the sealed unit. Once reassembled, the gun fired like a
charm and has not failed to fire once since (after 1000 or so nails).

I am having the same problem after i disassembled my nailer. The plastic cap was broken and the bushing that held the fuel cell pin was gone. I have may have disconnected one of the wires although the gun makes the normal fan noise. I understand that the electronic solid state ignition had been a problem with Paslode. One tip....the pin that holds the fuel cell door in place is only a short piece of plastic tube that acts as a bushing that keeps the pin centered. If the bushing rots away, the pin will move off center preventing the fuel cell door from opening. The side plastic frame must be opened to gain access to the pin and a new plastic bushing pressed on the pin. This is easiest done by using a vice to act as a press. I used some fish tank tube that I stole from my wifes fish tank as a bushing. My gun is old(first generation orange) and had the old plastic pop off cap but the more modern cap with the built in filter works OK but longer cap screws must be used.

Yup! I went through the same checklist..new seel and and new rocker arm...It was a clogged injector..

1. Check all the obvious things: fuel cell, battery, or jammed.
2. Remove the top cover and check the wires. Make sure they are not broken or shorted.
3. Pull on the big red wire that goes to the spark plug. If the wire comes out of the boot easy you will need to re solder at the connector.
4. To check a fuel cell remove it from the gun and press the outlet tube against a hard surface. If fuel comes out under pressure the FC is likely good, but...
5. To test for spark remove the FC and pull the boot and wire from the plug. Insert a small nail or any metal object that will stay in place in the boot and hold it a little ways from the metal body, pull the trigger as if you were firing a nail. Do this several times; you should see a spark; this means it's firing. If not; then you have a less than routine maintenance problem.
6. Remove the piston; it's not as hard as one might think. Clean all the parts and reassemble using the Pasload oil. I used carburator cleaner to remove the dirt oil mess. Air blow gun and parts dry and wipe it down.
7. Be sure the piston ring openings are 180 degrees apart.
8. Oil, oil, oil. Clean, clean, clean
9. Get a basic service manual.
Check the expiration date on the gas cartridges -- as odd as it sounds, the do expire and often will not fire after a period of time.

I've got a problem with my im65a, I've serviced it which hasn't resolved the issue, sometimes the fan kicks in sometimes it doesn't and every now and then it will fire but when it won't the light on the side flashes fairly long from red to green, any help greatly appreciated
The flashing light means a short in the circuit board or a faulty spark sending unit.Both fairly easy to replace.Less common is the spark plug wire has come out of the sending unit,,,,Unfortunately its goin to be trial and error.

I have spark wiring is all in good order . The fan trips in spark is there when I test it open with now piston or head attached I tried packing the roller sprung but still no luck any other ideas

Try a different gas cartridge and make sure the top of the cartridge is snapped tightly onto the cartridge body.

Stuart - this sounds like an air problem - you should perform the following test. With the air nailer close to the compressor you must monitor the airpressure after the gun fires. it sounds like the air is not gettting through diapram fast enough or there is a blockage in line. Blockage in line is not suspected for the following reason . It sounds like the air hose is holding enough air to fire 2-4 nails and then you must wait for the line to fill up again and then it fires ok. The pressure regulator out to the line controls this and they do fail. try this test and report back to me - I know I can solve this for you as I have extensive background in compressor and the like.

Any time these guns become intermittent or stop firing but the fan still runs, the first the to check is the expiration date on the gas cartridges. The do expire and this will make the gun work inconsistently or not at all.

Hi,
Yes you need to oil driver blade piston.
You need to check for spark. With no nail or gas in it. Take of main cylinder(4bolts on top, 2 bolts on nose. And then put in battery. And then push upper switch(behind roller at top) and the fan will come on. And then pull the trigger. You should have spark.
