Machine won't work.

Robert. You have a bad water valve OR completely clogged up filter screens on the valve. My past experience with this machine with this type of problem is to replace the valve assembly. part Number W10364988

Single mother of four wash machine not working only 2 yrs old.

Take off electricity wire, Open the filter from the front( maybee need to remove a rectangular cover.) turn the filter anti-clockwise. take out the hairneedle or coin. (the water will come out from the filter so make preparation with towels., see inside the filter if something is stucked around the small propellar. Turn the electricity back on. choose for example pumping program or centrifugeprogram. After that the machine should work.

Neptune TL locked lid light stays lit

I will give you a few things to try that are non technical and let’s see if the Control Board will let you in Service Mode. If so we will try lock and unlock the washer in Service Mode.
The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
Let enter Service Mode;
Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Board Output Test
While in Service Mode, pressing the Delicates key will begin the Board Output Test. This test turns on a
specified output after a key press. (Pressing the Delicates key again cancels the test.) All outputs
will be turned off after five (5) minutes.

Now Press the Colors / Jeans key this should lock the Left and Right Lid Locks….. did it?

If the lid locked now press the Extra Rinse Key and this should Unlock the Left and Right Lid Locks….. did it?

Let me know and we will go from there. I’m trying to get a feel for what Control Board functionality you have……Rich

The locked light is on but I am able to open the lid. It will not start

Hello barbarafreel,

Your machine type is a FAV6800A correct? If so I would try to recycle 120VAC power to the machine. Pull the washer power cord for 30 seconds then repower backup. Do you still have the Lid Lock LED lit? If so further trouble shooting is required. I would next have you go into Service Mode. Once in Service Mode we need to go Board Output Test on page 16 of the Service Manual I will summarize below.

Here is the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for your machine. Follow all safety warnings when working on the machine.

Let’s see if you can get into Service Mode, from the Service Manual slightly modified;

Enter Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Now look at page 16 of the service manual let’s see if you can with the Board Output Test function unlock and lock the Left and Right Lid Locks.

Now press the Delicates key.

The LED display should show ot and the Quick Wash led will be lit.

The Left and Right Lid Locks will lock.

Now press the Extra Rinse key pad.

A few seconds should elapse and the Whites led will go lit for a short duration then off and in a few seconds the Lid Locks should unlock. Do the Lid Locks unlock?

Now press the Colors / Jeans key pad again.

Do the Lid Locks lock?

Let me know what action took place and we will go from there.

You can get out of Service Mode by pressing Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously or press the Off key.

What I suspect is one of the lid lock is not releasing completely which moves a slide switch in the lid lock to signal the control board that the Lid is Unlocked and the Lid is Locked.

If you still have the issue I would release the washer top form the base and unplug the Right Lid Lock and see if that right lid lock is signaling incorrectly and possibly causing the issue. The Service Manual will show you how to release the washer top from the base. The left lid lock because of its dual signaling function “the Lid is Open/the Lid is Closed” and “the Lid is Locked/the Lid is Unlocked” can’t simply be unplugged. If you pull the Left Hand Lid Lock plug you will show a OP or OD error from the Control Board. If you are up for the troubleshooting I will help you proceed further.

Only the Left Lid Lock assembly needs to be plugged in for the washer to work as designed. I removed my Right Lid Lock a year ago and would never spend the money to replace it my choice.

Lock light wont turn off

Hello shon95m,
Glad to hear you did some troubleshooting on the first go around of your issue, we need to do some more. I haven’t experienced this issue but will troubleshoot with you if you can tolerate the down time. I will be doing this from the schematic of the machine. In this condition with the Locked LED lit are the Lid Locks actuated not releasing the lid to open? I know you know how to release the washer top from the washer base. Can you get into Service Mode in this failure condition?
First I would try the first two bullet points on page 13 of the SM for Will Not Unlock. I think you may have it, if not here are a couple of links to support troubleshooting efforts; Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
If that produces no results I would next pull the right lid lock off and leave it off it’s not necessary for normal washer operation and we need to reduce the failure points for fault isolation causing the lid lock circuit to remain lit.
Pull washer power plug first then pull the right lid lock off and leave it off. With the right lid lock plug pulled power up the machine does the Locked LED remain lit?
Repeat the step for the left lid lock after machine power up dose the Locked LED remain lit?
The “Lid Is Locked” inputs to the control board are in parallel from the left and right lid locks. From the schematic it looks like when the lid is locked +12VDC is connected thru the left and right lid locks to the input of the control board via Pin 8 of connector P3 marked on the schematic as “Lid Is Locked” input to the control board. From the schematic it looks to me that +12VDC signals the control board that the lid has successfully locked. So what is causing the Lock LED on the console? If it’s not caused by +12VDC switched to the input of the control board marked “Lid is Locked” from the left lid lock then I feel the control board has failed at component level causing this issue, but that is a WAG right now. The SM also speaks to a possible Motor Controller board as a possible fail point. If the Lock LED goes out when we pull the plug on the left lid lock then we need to open up that left lid lock and inspect for a possible corrosion paths at the plug or the left lid lock. See pic below of some nasty corrosion that can cause issues with the left lid lock assembly. Maybe we can get some other forum members to offer some additional support. I will continue to help until I hit a brick wall in troubleshooting or you need to move on. Rich
