I transferred 13 songs onto my iPod shuffle. When I connect it to the USB it gives me an option to play my songs on the computer. But when I disconnect it I get green AND orange lights when I try to play my music...and of course I hear nothing. It's not my earphones. I tested those.

From Apple.com Support Website. If the front status light on your iPod shuffle blinks orange and green when you press any button, then your iPod shuffle is experiencing some type of error. Try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. To troubleshoot the iPod shuffle error light: 1. Turn off your iPod shuffle 2. Wait a few seconds 3. Turn your iPod shuffle back on again If this does not resolve the problem: 1. Check to make sure there are songs on your iPod shuffle 2. Use iTunes to add songs to iPod shuffle and try again If your iPod shuffle continues to display a blinking orange and green light, use iPod Updater 2005-02-11 or later to restore iPod shuffle, and then add songs with iTunes. If your iPod shuffle still shows a blinking orange and green light after trying all of the above steps, your iPod shuffle may need service. Best of Luck.

When I turn on my ipod shuffle & hit play it blinks green and orange several times and won't play

The Apple iPod shuffle is a digital music player that contains a single indicator light that relays information about the device's battery condition, computer connection and any errors the device is having. The indicator light is capable of blinking red, green or orange as well as displaying a steady red, green or orange light. The iPod Shuffle includes a Universal Serial Bus interface and buttons on the front of the device for controlling music files.

Blinking Orange A blinking orange light indicates the iPod Shuffle is receiving an update via iTunes to the device's internal components. The update could include a patch to repair an error the player encountered once before, an update to the player's file-saving software, or a combination of security, repair and software updates. Updates are free and automatically sent directly from Apple through iTunes to your iPod shuffle before a sync process starts. Disconnecting iPod Shuffle When the player's light is blinking orange, do not unplug the device from your computer's USB port this will stop the update process and possible corrupt the device's internal hard drive. Let the update process and sync process finish before clicking "Eject" within iTunes and removing the player. Disk Use Enabled If you use your iPod Shuffle as a flash drive and not as a music player, a blinking orange light means that the device is connected to your computer and ready to accept files. The "Disk Use" enabled setting is changeable within iTunes if you decide to use your iPod Shuffle for music storage instead of file storage. When set up as a flash drive, the iPod Shuffle is assigned a drive letter by your computer's operating system and the drive lets you "drag and drop" files to the device. b> Charging If your iPod shuffle's battery is completely depleted or low on charge, connect the player to your computer immediately for charging then leave it connected to receive any updates to the device's software and internal components. Its indicator light may or may not blink orange until after it is fully charged. If the battery is low on charge or completely depleted, you may receive an error stating that the iPod is corrupt or needs restoring, close the error message and let the device fully charge.

My ipod wont work it blinks like this (green, orenge, green, orenge, green, orenge) and i dont know what to do.

These are considered the "green and orange lights of death" and could very well mean your ipod is shot. However, I would take it into an Apple Store, and they will work something out for a replacement.

It wont charge it blinks three times then stops

Hi,Okay, well, I don't want to be a shill for Apple (I mean, heck, I had to buy my Shuffle, so it's not like they're sponsoring this in any way! :-) so let's talk about the color sequences and what they mean.

First off, there are a number of different functions that are denoted by different color sequences, so flashing green might mean one thing when you're listening to music, and something else entirely when it's plugged in and charging or syncing with your PC.

The primary functions are powering on, charging, syncing, and general feedback. Let's look at each.

When you turn on your ipod shuffle, the light will indicate your current charge level:

green = 30-100% charge, you're good to cruise
orange = 10-30% charge, low, but still good for a short workout
red = less than 10% charge, time to plug it in
no light = too late, you've run out of juice

If you see an alternating pattern of green-orange-orange then your Shuffle's crashed or otherwise needs to be restored. Needless to say, that's not a good thing, but probably easy to fix when you hook it up to your PC or Mac.

When you're charging up your shuffle, there are three possible light states:

orange = charging
green = fully charged, unplug whenever you're ready to go
flashing orange = busy, either syncing or in use as a remote disk

When you're playing some music, you can see visual feedback on what's happening and what state you're in:

Press play and

solid green = you're playing music
flashing green = you're in pause mode

Press and hold play and

green-orange-orange-orange = you've disabled your buttons
orange-green-green-green = you've reenabled your buttons

That's bound to be one where people panic and fear that they've broken their shuffles, I bet. If your buttons aren't working at all on your Apple iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen, then press and hold your Play button to see what light sequence you're given. This is also shown by the Shuffle flashing orange when you push a button too.

If your player flashes alternating green and orange, you have no music in the shuffle. This can be because it's fresh out of the box, or because, well, something's happened and the music has vanished. Either way, time to sync with your iTunes library.

If you're seeing a flashing red sequence, you're just about out of battery and just need to plug it in so it can charge up.

Finally, Apple has some good tech notes on the new Shuffle too that you might want to check out if you're still a bit baffled by this tiny engineering wonder: Understanding status light behavior, Shuffle Second Gen, Frequently Asked Questions and iPod Shuffle Support Overview.

Ipod wont play

If you didn't use the ipod software download from itunes then the ipod shuffle doesn't recognize the music as playable. I tried to download straight from my ps3 and mine did the same thing. The blinking orange and green light indicate no recognized music.

Green and ORANGE? orange indicates the iPod is searching for music.
UNDERSTAND this- when you play music in the iTunes app., you are hearing the music in your computer not the iPod.
1) Install the latest iTunes application.
2) Do a restore
3) sync your iPod
