Whistle noise from filter

I have a dc25, I cleaned the filters and now have a whistle noise. Opened the ball to access the filter and by curiosity put my finger on the filter will running and the noise stopped. Do I need to replace the filter or is it the rubber gasket that needs to be replaced?

Try moving the filter a little while it is running. This is a common problem caused by the air bypassing the filter. The more clogged the filter is the more it will whistle but sometimes it will whistle with a new filter. Sometimes you may get it stopped for a while but then it will start up again or come and go.

SOURCE: My Dyson DC25 keeps blowing off the filter within

I would try the filter first. The filter on your unit should be replaced at least once a year, more often if it gets used a lot or in a very dusty or dirty environment. If the filter is clogged air cannot pass through it just as if you laid a piece of plastic over it which can cause it to blow off.

Ball makes a clicking noise every 0.25 metres. Please help

Please read this answer all the way through there is something that may be relevant (strike out 'important') at the end !

Maybe it's this
"clip that holds the filter in place and the locating lug of the access flap to gently rub together as the ball rotates and create a slight clicking noise as the appliance is moved around (though is not routinely noticed due to the motor noise)"
(from Fully Cleaned Serviced Refurbished Dyson DC25 Animal Ball Vacuum Cleaner )
stop press - I just saw this - if you do not have proper Dyson brand HEPA filters - see end of answer - you may get a loud clicking sound....
The manual tells you about removal and cleaning HEPA filter - the All floors version has one as well)
Otherwise I can only refer to Dyson support, there are various ways of contacting them given at the top right of this webpage Support forDC25 Multi Floor
(the user guide manual is downloadable from this webpage)
Sounds to me as if maybe there is an irregularity on the ball that is contacting the body/ball housing every time the ball does round....unfortunately this makes the ball diameter ~8cm which too small.

I have a DC25 it works fine, my problem is when I switch It off it makes a horrendous noise like an airplane taking off. I have taken everything apart and cleaned everything but yet still makes funny...

It may be air whistling past the exhaust filter, which may need replaced. Try removing the filter to see if that could be where the noise is coming from.

How many filters in the DC25 dyson vacuum cleaner

Hi Cheryl, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 has two filters, engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. One is housed within the cyclone pack, and one within the ball shell. We recommend washing these at least once every 3 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow both filters to dry completely before replacing them - this may take at least 24 hours.

Our video guide below will show you where both filters are located, and how to wash them correctly:

If you're concerned your DC25 isn't picking up as well as it should be, washing both of the filters as shown should definitely help. However if you're still concerned after washing and replacing the filters there may be a blockage somewhere. Our online Support pages should help you locate and remove any obstructions: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/diagnosis-root-menu/dc25filterwashvid/dc25filterwashvid/performance-flo-dc24-suction-check

Dyson dc25

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC25's ball won't rotate freely, it's possible the HEPA post-filter housed inside the ball is out of place and jamming the ball shell.

To resolve this, please remove the post-filter door and replace the post-filter, pressing it firmly into position until you hear and feel a click from the red catch. This is shown in our filter wash video guide below:

This should resolve the issue, but if you find that it happens again I'd encourage you to contact us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I cleaned the filters on my dc 25, after cleaning it started to make a whistle noise. Opened the ball will running and touched the filter and noise stopped. Do I need to replace filter or rubber gasket...

You are hearing the air whistling past the gasket. Touching it may make it come and go. It is a small air leak bypassing the filter. It is more of a nuisance than anything. A bit of fine dust may be getting past the filter too so It's best to try to adjust it so it does not make the noise. If your filter was still wet or is clogged it will cause a restriction which makes it more likely for the air to try to get past the filter because it is having a hard time going through the filter.

Filter whistle noise

Hi Basil,

I am sorry to hear your machine is emitting a high pitched sound. Based on the details you provided the problem may be isolated to the post motor filter, if so a new filter will be needed. We would like to help with this. Please contact our Helpline to speak with an expert:

Whinning sound when I turn it off

if it started after you cleaned the filters, it is because when you smack the filter that is in the ball like they tell you to, it pushes the rubber gasket in so air can sneak past it. take it back out and pull the rubber gasket away from the filter so there is about 1/16-1/8" away all the way around, then put it back in. it will seal it and stop.

My Dyson DC25 keeps blowing off the filter within the ball. It then stops the ball from rotating freely.

It is making a whistling sound and is losing suction

Make sure the top (above the cones) and the bottom (ball) filters are clean. The whistling sound is due to the bottom filter either being clogged or poorly seated and the air is escaping around the rubber seal, making the whistling sound.
