Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

JVC will repair for free some camcorder models that suffer from the LENS CAP error. The repairs are free until OCTOBER 1, 2007 only so hurry up and see if your model is listed at http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD

JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, this model may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display ?LENS CAP? even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Until October 1, 2007, repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at JVC Factory Service Centers. Click this Repair Request link to download a Repair Request Form and find your nearest location.

Please call our Customer Care Center at (800) 858-6442 if you encounter any problems in obtaining a free repair. We apologize for any inconvenience and are appreciative of your understanding and support

Lens screen stuck open and no image on LCD view screen.

It is jamming, the only really fix is to have it repaired, that costs a lot and it is sometimes better to just replace the camera.

When in video recording mode LCD screen and viewfinder are black when the lens cap is off.

It could one of a few problems:

1. The viewfinder is pulled out and "PRIORITY" is set to "FINDER".

Push the viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".

2. The LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark.

Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.

3. If the monitor is tilted upward 180 degrees, open the monitor fully.

LCD Screen Stays Black

Had the same problem. It nearly drove me mad, however, the fix seems quite simple. The screen in playback mode seemed to be fine but if I swithed to record or photo mode I just got a black screen. I could see some pixel movement so I figured the screen was okay and that the iris was the problem.

Anyway, to fix it I simply gave a few sharp taps on the camera body near the lens. This unstuck the iris and I was greeted with a clear image in the LCD viewfinder. The camera now works fine.

By the way, this seems to be a fairly common problem with a lot of the different models and not just limited to this one.

Hope this helps.

Olympus DS30 voice recorder play speed issue

Hi, the solution to the problem seems to be the following. When u press play, once, you get 1x play. If whilst playing you press play a second time the DS-30 goes into slow play mode, and if you press a second time it goes into fast mode. For those of us who accidentally went into either fast or slow mode, just press the play button again, during playback, until "play" appears on the LCD screen. Apparently it is as simple as that.

JVC Digital Video Camera GR-DVL107E

Assuming you don't see any video through the viewfinder, it could be that the CCD has died on that camcorder. It happens, though not frequently.

If the video though the viewfinder is clear, there might be some sensor on the lens ring to indicate a lens cap, or an automatic lens cap not properly disengaging when put in record mode.
