If your needle isn't picking up the bottom thread, lower your needle just a bit. Only the top of the needle head should be up inside the shank.

Testimonial: "The metal part holding the bobbin at the bottom doesn't spin around to pick it up?"

More than likely you have a broken vertical shaft gear.

When you turn the handwheel you should see the sewing hook moving under the bobbin case.

If not, take it to a sewing repair person and it should cost somewhere around $100 to repair.

I had a Golden Touch 'N Sew many years ago and as the machine aged and parts became worn, step 4 of this bobbin winding diagram started to become a problem and I had to sometimes try several times before the "tabs" would release. If they did not release, the machine "thought" it was still winding the bobbin and would not sew.

My singer model #247 was working fine and threaded and filled bobbin several times. The bobbin got tangled. Got it undone but can't get it to pull bobbin thread up now. I need for sewing camp asap

First thing--change to a new needle in case it was bent when the threads got tangled. Now un-thread the machine all the way and re-thread it, making sure your thread is going through the needle in the proper direction. You have to have a top thread in order to get the machine to pick up the bottom thread.

How totime singer 4423

Make sure the needle is threaded properly. If the thread is going through the needle in the wrong direction, the thread won't be picked up.

Singer 629 metal part at bottom won't spin around to pick up thread?

Most likely one or more of the gears that drive the hook have broken. If you are comfortable with taking the bottom cover off the machine you should be able to see the damaged parts. It is not a DIY repair because there is a timing gauge that is used in the repair and the timing needs to be exact or the machine will not make a stitch. Check with a sewing machine repair person you trust to look at it and give you an estimate for repair.

Rimoldi serger Hi I have a 629 Rimoldi serger and

I have a Rimoldi 629 and to rethread the back part with the tube ...
you take of the front of the thread plate there is 2 screws...
then look down the left hand side you will see a dial ...
you need to take the 2 or 3 screws out of that panel and the dial actually holds it on just undo the dial a bit ...
you need to get some wire and thread it through the tube ... when it reaches the end of the tube make a tiny loop so that when you thread the back tension disk you can pull the thread through the tube ....
i have the proper threading guide if anyone need it
My email address is [email protected] just email me and i will send it to you

Hope this all makes sense thanks

Singer Futura II - Model 920 My bottom thread will not pick up and the top thread piles in a ball. I did thread the machine with the presser foot raised. Could there be a tension problem? Also where should...

you might try checking the needle, it could be damaged, bent, or blunt
then see if you can pick up the bobbin thread.
if you still can't pick up the bobbin thread it's possible that the machine could be out of time.. it would need to be serviced by a sewing machine repair shop & they can tell you if your sewing machine is one that has to be oiled or a self oiling machine.

Wont pick up bobbin thread

Are you certain that the needle is in correctly? If it opens at the front the flat side of the needle should be facing the back. If it opens on the left hand side then the flat part of the needle should be facing into the body of the machine. If top and bottom are threaded correctly and the needle is in properly and fully in position it should pick up. If it doesnt then you "could" have a timing fault.
