Everytime I set time and date, camera turns off.

When turned back on, it says "date and time have been reset".
Reset date and time again, does same thing. No other functions will work.

Here's the answer! Maybe late, but we can all learn from this. All digital cameras have a small, internal power source that maintains the internal date and time. Freshly charged or new batteries must remain in the camera for at least 24 hours to fully charge this power source.
If new batteries aren't charged for at least 24 hours, you must reset the date and time every time batteries are changed. After the power source is fully charged, it maintains the date and time under normal use.

I have to reset date time etc everytime i turn camera on

If the Date/Time menu appears when the camera power is turned on, the date battery charge is low and the date and time settings have been lost. Please purchase a lithium coin battery (CR1220) and replace it as follows.

1. Confirm that the camera power is turned off.
2. Slide the memory card slot / battery cover lock and open the cover.
3. Hook your nail onto the date battery holder and lightly pull up.
4. Remove the battery holder in the direction indicated by the arrow. a570isbackupbatremove.gif 5. Remove the battery by pulling it up in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Clock always reset to default upon power up

Either the replacement battery was dead or the camera needs to be serviced. If the date/time needs to be reset every time the camera powers up, the camera is not receiving the power it needs from the date battery.

Set date and time comes up every time i turn on camera

Try resetting your camera. In picture taking mode press menu. Go to setup, go up to reset, press right arrow, make sure reset is highlighted and press set.

Then TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD. Go back into menu, go to setup, go up to format, press right arrow and highlight format, press set. Input ur date and time again and then power off and back on. If that doesn't help then you have to send into repairs. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.

Have you changed the CR2016 clock battery? See the picture and sentence at the bottom of the following webpage:

It's a common battery, available just about anyplace that sells batteries.
