I checked the hampton bay site and unfortunately whatever dip switch setting on the fan is, the remote needs to be matched to it. better get out the ladder!

with Hampton Fans,, normally if the remote is good with a known good battery , and it quits working,, its the remote receiver, not the actual remote that goes bad. you can contact these guys I heard they have the part you need http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php

I bought a hampton bay ceiling fan model uc7083t but i didn't

hi there i can help. There is a "dip switch" on nearly all fan remote units, much like a garage door opener has. To keep all the fans in your home from operating at one time, each fan needs a seperate "code". To use your other remote, you need to locate the receiver unit in the fan, usually in the "canopy". This is the bowl looking piece against the ceiling. then note the "code" which is the position of the switches. For instance, most have a block with 4 switches, and if the first is "on", and the remaining are "off", that is it's set code. This "code" can be changed to any combination of "on , off" that you like. BUT, you must also open the remote control and set it's switch to the exact same "Code", or order of "on off" as your Fan receiver. (Usually the control "Dip switch" is in the battery compartment.

Why does my Hampton Bay fan light goes on by itself

I had the same problem as well.....It turn out that there was interference from some other electronic device, garage door, microwave, digital phone etc etc etc who knows for sure. I removed the fan from the ceiling and pulled the small remote control box out, changed the code on the four tiny switches...changed the code on the remote control to match the control box...... Completely solved the problem with the lights. Hope this helps..

Hampton Bay Remote

You must use the switch on the fan itself.

Hampton Bay 46056 fan

I have three Hampton Bay Ceiling fans with remotes for eight years. I doesn't help when a neighbor buys the same make and model. So, I had to come up with a different code for mine. I had to change the code for the remote and match it with the code in the fan. To change the code in the fan, that depends on the type of fan you have, some you would need to look on top of the fan and use a skinny stick to change the code, other's you would need to take the light fixture down to get to the controller box to change the code. I have both types, this is how know. PS. if ever, which will happen, if the fan doesn't respond to the remote then you would need to replace the controller inside the fan. Here's the warrenty no. 800.749.3267 for replacement.
