shorted pump motor need new one or something is caught in the impeller and wont let motor turn or you can try to spin the motor by hand then try agai if still blows breaker new pump is needed

Breakers are mechanical parts and can fail. If none of your components are causing the breaker to trip it's the breaker itself.

How long has it been since you have the new motor installed? Did it work after the job was completed? Very possible that the starter circuit has failed, usually when it comes on and runs but overheats and stops, the starter and run circuits are both engaged and that causes it to overheat. If you can read the wiring diagram on the motor and make sure it it correctly wired, you may save it if it is a simple loose wire. Otherwise it sounds like you will have to have whoever changed it come back and do a warranty repair.

could be you have a bad breaker. your old motor stresed the breaker now its weak. that motor draws 9.6 amps @ 230v i wold stay with the 15 amp, just get a new one.. jay the pool pump repair guy in longwood Florida

are you hearing anything from the motor when you rest the breaker? like a slight hummmmmmmm? or you cant reset the breaker? at any rate both mean your motor is bad. all pool supply stores can sell you a new motor and if you can replace it your self they can direct you to a experienced pool repair man.

no. it sounds like its too late for your motor , no need for a pool pump motor repair kit ,there is one on ebay . but it sounds like your motor is toast if it blowing the breaker... hey i could be wrong . look for a shop that has free pool pump motor testing .use your zip code in your search..
as far as using the bearings off them threw bolt motors. do what ya got to do, but you might find that the front bearing is a bigger bearing .. i charge 85.00 to rebuild a 2.. but you must catch them befor its too late 2hp new = big $$$

If the pool pump is running and then 10 minutes into the cycle it trips the breaker, then it is overloading the circuit. The pump is laboring, workingf too hard . The filter shoiuld be cleaned. maybe there is a blockage in the return line to the pool. the other thing could be the wire size to the pump, but you said that it was running last summer . so that should be OK

First you need to remove the wires from the back of your motor and wire nut them off. If the breaker still blows it is probably in the circuit to the motor if not it is probably in the motor and will need a new one unless it is bigger than 2.5HP then it may be worth rewiring. If it is blowing the breaker and is in the motor it is time for a new one.
