Try checking on the format of the disc recording. refer to the unit's manual, about the V recording mode, and the VR recording mode. V is the most common format that is readable to any DVD player.

Ok I have been here before. The problem is your DVD burner in your DVD player unit may not be burning the disk in a format recognized by the Computer, or the laser may not have burned the disk to the set standard, and while it can play on that DVD player when you move it to a nother player it will not play. Well what we can do is Test the reverse first. Burn a DVD on your computer and try to play it on your DVD player and on the other TV. Then what I want you to do is to clean the lens of the player and try to burn a disk and play it on your computer. Let me know how this truns out.

When I burn a DVD (R- or R+) on a Sony RDR-GX300 it burns the DVD which plays on that unit only. If I try to play the DVD burned on Sony RDR-GX300 on any other brand or any other Sony DVD player or even on...

On That Type Of DVD Recorder,( RW,R-R+). You Will Have To Finalize The Disk. Finalizing is Necessary When Playing On Any Equipment Other Than This Recorder.Even IF Your Other DVD Equipment IS ( VR ) Format Compatible You Still Need To Finalize The Disk. After Finalizing,You Cannot Edit or Record on The Disk,Make Sure It's In Video Mode.

Hi helen670,
I have two models to recomend, one is the Philips DVD R 357H/37 that has a hard disk for you to save TV shows and you can burn them later on CD's or DVD's, or you can burn them directly. It's around $290 and can also play any DVD or CD.
Another model is the Panasonic DMR-EZ27K that lack's of a hard disk, which makes it cheaper (around $200), but still can record CD's or DVD's directly from the TV.
Hope it helps.

Can't view DVD's burned from the tv on a DRC8335 RCA DVD recorder

If you do not finalize the disc then you can not play it back. Go back to your instruction manual and look under 'setting options'. There should be a choice to 'finalize disc before ejecting'. The recorder will not finalize a disc until it knows when you are done recording, so you have to tell it somehow.

Samsung Player will not recongnize DVD

I had the same problem and after reading and trying allot of disks I found the following to work.

Used Maxell - RW disk. Did a complete format on my computer (takes a while). Burned a DVD using Vista DVD burner with only a Jpg as per one of the other posts. Once the disk plays. Stop and goto disk management and format using DVD-V (VR did not work).

I know its not pretty but at least its better than throwing it in the garbage bin.
