I believe I answered this one on another page of unsolved problems HERE. Thanks for the model number. If the ice slots inside the ice maker are empty try pouring tap water in the slots and allow the water to freeze. If after the water freezes the ice drops into the ice bucket and the ice maker does not refill this would indicate that the side of the=> W10408179 Water Inlet Valve is defective on the side that controls ice maker water supply. If the ice maker just sits there and does nothing this would point to a defective ice maker. Depending what is wrong with the ice maker will determine what parts are replaced. Here is a list of those parts here=> Kenmore Refrigerator Model 106.51552104 Ice Maker Parts and if need you may be able to find a complete ice maker replacement by asking. Most people don't like replacing ice maker parts. I am here should you have questions or comments, Sea Breeze

Hello,
There are as you can imagine many possible causes for you no ice condition. I will give you the most common problem for the year model you have. I hope this helps you.
You will need to remove the ice maker from the freezer compartment to check it. Once it is repaired if the following information does help, and you reinstall the ice maker, it should go through a cycle automatically within an hour of your reinstalling it in the freezer compartment.
Once you have the ice maker out of the freezer compartment you will need to remove the white cover on the end of the ice maker and look at the center of the large white gear. If the part inside the hole in the center of the gear is broken or looks twisted, you will need to replaced the module. The module is the part that has the large white gear and is held in the ice maker by 3 phillips head screws. It only comes as an assembly. You can't get just the little broken piece.

SOURCE: kemore coldspot no ice?

no you ice it is on a separate valve as the water in the door so the water flow don't mean a lot in this case remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

I have a Kenmore side by side model # 106.53609202 and its about 8 years old. About a month ago it stopped making ice. I've already replaced the water valve behind the fridge and waited 24 hours and...

OK, remove the cover on the face of the ice maker and let me know if the model look like this picture:
12_17_2011_1_36_01_am.jpgIf it looks like this model, I have the service manual for it with all the testing procedures. If it doesn't, see if you can get a model number off the unit. They make about 4 different model for this unit.

Ice maker stopped working...water works, ice tray has water, ice maker is turned on. curious if I should just replace the motor or if it could be something else

If your ice maker is not making ice and you poured water into the ice maker, that would indicate the ice maker is not cycling. If you have any make or model except a whirlpool, kitchenaid or sears kenmore, if you replace the ice maker, you will be making ice in no time. If you have one of the aforementioned brands, AND the ice BUCKET is mounted on the door, you will have to replace the electric eye boards on either side wall as well, as these often short, damaging the icemaker electronics in the process.

I have Kenmore frostless 25 with an ice and water dispenser in the door. It does not makes ice, but the water dispenser works fine. I could hear the ice maker switch bar moves up and down in the ice...

Most times it's the water control valve on the rear of refrigerator and near the floor. And you can test the ice maker by filling with water. Let it freeze and if it dumps the ice and does not refill then the water control valve. If the water freezes and nothing happens the the ice maker is the problem. If you had your model number I could tell you part numbers. Anyway try that and let me know your findings. Kenmore uses a model number like 312.54689 for example found on front near floor and behind the fresh food section door. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze
