Monitor is black screen
I have an AOC Monitor..
Ummm, works fine for the for 10 mins..
then when you open or close a game or some other application, it will run but the screen will stay black at it will show nothing...
Then I turn my monitor off for 10 mins... and turn it on again, it works!! But after another 10 mins, it will be the same again..
It even sometimes make the screen color green blue and inverted colors..
The AOC monitor i have is the one with the spinning wheel right in the middle of it.. when you press it, it shows options in blue..
When i open my computer the led is blinking in green and monitor is blank
I have a 197S-1aoc monitor and it is only 1.5 old and now when I hooked up to charter cable internet I now only get lines on the window and the rest of computer checked out?
Chris had the right idea. I had the same problem with the f1703. It was just a bad joint. the 1730 is much diffrent then the power circut of the f1703. I do not know if it is the large capacitor. I would like to know where the failure is.
Does power button lights? If so then first unplug from monitor while on and plug back in. Do this about 3 times. If no difference then you have to open back and replace big size capacitor and look for some other caps bad. This only if power light up. If completely dead then first look for blown fuse or loose connection at the power plug inside.

After two years of use, sudenly it started to fail. Every time i start my computer the display starts for a few seconds and then it goes out (black screen). The first days it operated normally after i performed a few "on and off" cicles, but now does not stay on (with image) any more, (no more than a few seconds).
I hope the solution of changind the capacitor works. If so i will post my results.
Thanks
I have the same problem... Have installed a brand new battery with no change. Closing the lid for a few secs will help sometimes... otherwise have to shut down and restart.
monitor goes black (just very very very dark! not really turned off i think...) and then turns off (probably the power saving feature) and stays with orange light.. turning off and on (usually a few times) should make it work again..
you can see when it works if you see the AOC logo show up when turned on.. if not it usually just displays a picture for a millisecond and then darkens again.
the number of times you need to turn it on and off varies from 2 to 50+ .. once i had to sit half of a day without any results..
btw: taking the AC cable out of the power socket doesn't help..
Gateway FPD 1730 LCD, screen goes black and the power button is still green. I turn power button off, then on, then screen is back on.
Some times I have to do this several times the first hour of use?
I took my monitor to the technical support, where it could be repaired by replacing some part of it. The problem seems to be related to the background light on/off turning mechanism, that works similarly to fluorescent tube lamps, I think. The monitor worked fine for one year until it began to fail again. In resume, the monitor has to be repaired/maintained aprox. once a year in order to work fine. This time I´ll try to find the way to fix the monitor myself, because the cost of mantainig it is quite expensive. In the long term buying a new monitor is cheaper than repairing LM729 periodically, unless you know how to repair it yourself. If someone has a clue about this issue, please post it.
Same monitor - AOC LM729 - same problem. I sent it in and it came back with the identical problem. What kind of technician could repair this? Electrician? TV repairman?
i have a hp 1730 monitor that shows a black screen when turned on
Same problem here - my AOC will start up fine, then suddenly will dim, then go completely black. The power light stays on, and eventually switches to orange for standby mode. If I power cycle it, it works for a few minutes at best, and then it's back to dimming and going blank.
