Hi,
I've just bought the D-Link DIR-615 and have been trying to install it. The problem is that the instructions say that my Internet connection should be active during the installation, but I only have one Ethernet port on my laptop. I have the cable from my modem (Siemens SpeedStream 5450, ADSL Gateway) connected to my laptop, but during installation am requested to plug the cable from laptop to router. Obviously I then loose the connection.
I can get the connection back on (most times) after proceeding to connecting the modem and the router, but when proceeding on I get a pop-up with the following "Click'n Connect can't discover the Router. Please check the cable connection and make sure the Router is powered on."

Alternatively, if I don't set up the connection again before clicking Next, I get the bars running with a note about checking the connections -- until it stops and the screen returns to the 1st screen with "Plug the power adapter..."
I do not know whether it makes a difference that I use VPN and have to have that connected to get to my work email, intranet etc. so I cannot connect without it.
I would really appreciate any advice on how I can get the system set up.
Connect the modem to the router via the ethernet cable. Connect the laptop to the router by means of another ethernet cable in one of the 4 spare sockets. Switch everything off. Turn everything back on one at a time, modem first, then router, then laptop. Allow each unit to fully power up before switching the next one on. Put the installation CD in the laptop and try again. If you are using the laptop wirelessly, make sure the wireless function is switched on!
I got the "click'n connect can't discover the router.." error - I realized the problem was I was connected to a wireless network at the time.
After I've disconnected are retried it worked.
Good luck.

- Logon to the configuration page of your D-Link.
- Go to Advanced tab
- And Click on Firewall Settings on the left side
- Under that look for Application Gateway Level at the bottom and you must uncheck at the box on it and click on save settings at the top.

Update your firmware to the latest. I had the same issue and the issue is gone after the upgrade.
SOURCE: DLink DIR-615 can forward ports
You probably have a 3rd part firewall software on the PC, configure that firewall to allow the same ports. what AntiVirus do you have?
SOURCE: dlink dir-615 change nat from strict to open
you will need to change some settings on the router.
reduce the MTU. if the MTU settings on the router is 1500 then change 1365 also you will need to open the some ports on the router.
