From what I've read here, it could be one of two things: a blown motherboard or a scratched bobbin case.

Before you do anything else, I'd remove the bobbin case, clean it and the area around it thoroughly (and check it for scratches or dings -- perhaps a needle broke recently?) and then replace it and see if that fixes the error.

If not, unfortunately, I'll bet it's time for a check-up with a repairman. :(

Best of luck to you!!

Awesome ... make sure to check for visible scratches or dings. If you have any, replace the bobbin case. You can usually find one on eBay for about $23 or so.

Best, best of luck to you! I hope it's just a bobbin case!!

    Did you have any luck?!
*here's hoping it was simply a botched bobbin case!*

SOURCE: stepping motor error

There are several possibilities, take a look at earlier solutions page for similar problem Here

I would also suggest a Q-tip or cotton bud dipped in metholated spirit to clean the bobbin case area, especially the recess track where the bobbin case spins.

If there are any needle strikes on your bobbin case which have spoiled the smooth surface required for efficient thread movement over the top, get a replacement for a few dollars.

For the record, Janome gives a 5 year warantee on circuit boards, so in the unlikely event that they fail, free replacement.

Cheers

SOURCE: jANOME MEMORYCRAFT 8000 STEPPING MOTOR

if you ever have this problem, it is because you have had something in the way of the embroidery arm at the back of the machine, so it has not been able to move freely; you'll get a terrible noise as the machine is unable to do what it wants, slips gears or something and then can't bring the arm to its home position. But fear not, i have found if you turn the machine off and gently push the arm back home to touch the machine as it is the start position, when you turn it on, it will work fine and no harm done. just make sure the arm can move freely before you start embroidery!

Is there anyone who can repair a Janome MC 8000 with the stepping motor error. Mine had been running fine until I sewed over a thick flannel seam with a hidden pin. It knocked the needle out of alignment...

You might try "resetting" your machine. It is not difficult; however, I cannot get my copy of instructions on here. If you like, you may email me and I should be able to provide the instructions to you.
