How to reset the receiver to factory specs

A modern tv is in reality a computer and will only receive what the software will allow it to receive. Over time and use the software will become corrupted and need a reset or reboot.

My tv regularly says it has no signal but switching off at the mains and then back on half a minute later restores it as normal. When it begins to happen too often I carry out a factory reset and it is fine again.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. Reprogram the remote to function with a different brand of equipment that you do not have. The remote can't affect the receiver if it is not talking to it.

Tries unplug,replug tv back like about an hour later.Letting tv reset itself back to factory setting.The tv should work now.Not,than the little static electricity spark,shorted out ur tv Tuner signal board.Causing is to have this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Tuner signal board for the replacement.

First reset the tv to factory defauld setting by press and hlod [^] on remote, press [power] on TV, second thing you can do is software update. Go to http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=KDL42V4100&LOC=3#div_pos_30 . If it doesn’t work. Replace the Main board.

Select the route page options button and press the Thumb Stick in to access the options menu.
Select "Restore Defaults" and then press in on the Thumb Stick to restore factory settings.

Read the suggestion of unplugging the TV for at least 4 hours to re-set to factory specs and that took care of it!
