We've replaced the fan and freon in our 8 year old fridge but it still doesn't get cold. We've spent $400 bucks with a repair company and now he thinks but is not sure if it's the compressor. Any suggestions? We're trying desperately to fix this one because ALL of the new fridges that are of a decent size 24 - 25 cubic feet are all 68.5 inches or taller and will not fit in our current space w/out cutting out our cabinets? We don't want to go with a small 21 - 22 cubic feet fridge or anything less that 34-35 inches across..Any suggestions here either ?

Check the damper in the top back of the fresh food section. make sure that it is open and air is coming through it.

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. If any fans stop cooling stops. The fan inside the freezer will need to be examined for why it stopped or if the one below is stopped it to will need to be checked. I think your defrost timer is on the front of your refrigerator on floor behind the kick plate. If you can turn the timer clockwise until refrigerator starts or stops that may tell us the reason for these failures. Place your model in the model search feature below and choose one of many the same models. Look inside back of freezer wall after you unplug refrigerator and tell me if fan is stopped and if coils have ice or snow covering them.Then we will go from there.Click link below. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT GET IT ALL THE DOOR DOWN FROM THE DOWN SIDE OF THIS.
I HAVE FIND THAT THE PROBLEM IS TO A LITLE PLASTIC PEASE FROM THE DOWN SIDE OF THE DOOR.
PLEASE CAN HELP ME WHERE I CAN FIND THIS PART???

We had the same issues with the water freezing and called a technician out. He added some extra insulation installed around the water lines inside the refrigerator and we also keep our frig at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, slightly above the manufacturers default setting. Hope this helps.
