Lost Installation Software for Canon Rebel XT

I have recently had to have my computer rebuilt do to having some bad viruses. When I went to reinstall all of my software I could not find my installation CD for my Canon Rebel XT. I can't figure out how to load my photos onto my computer without the EOS Utility software. I hook up the camera and turn on the computer and it doesn't do anything at all. I loaded the driver off of the Canon website but that didn't fix the problem.

Please help! Thanks!!!

I have created an ISO image of my Canon 350D software CD and uploaded it to filefactory.com
You can download it here http://www.filefactory.com/file/aga8gc6/n/EOSv10_zip
You should be able to get a free download slot, keep trying if the server is busy.

If you do not have software which can extract the ISO file, try the excellent CDBurnerXP, completely free from http://cdburnerxp.se

Once you have burned this to a CD, just insert and the Canon installer menu should automatically appear.

Please take the the time to rate this solution.

SOURCE: Canon EOS/Rebel XT won't power up

Joe, this happened to me, just tonight... I got a new CF card and stuck it in, turned it on and one CF card flash. Completely dead from there. I found one of the CF card pins bent over, shorted out the socket and blew the mainboard fuse. I took the camera apart, found the fuse (labelled K) about under the set button area) I bridged the fuse with a bit of solder, straightened out the pin in the socket, put it all back together and it's working fine. The fuse is under the right side shield cover, it's labelled with a letter K. There is another fuse on the power inlet board (below the shutter button) and it's labelled 'P'...

Need installation software to download Canon Digital Rebel XT/EOS to my computer so I can download pictures. I have misplaced the disk which came with the camera. Is it possible to download that software...

You can download Canon software from
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/digital_rebel_xt#DriversAndSoftware

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Changing that setting was aparently a BAD idea!

Hello: Try updating the firmware for the camers and software. Go to canon and download the firmware to a flash drive and connect your camera and install the latest firmware from canon.

Lost installation software for my 350d and I now have a new pc and i am unable to upload my pictures, as the computer will not recognise the camera. camera was bought in us but i am currently in europe if...

most ALL cameras(photo)do not need software to load to a pc(exept maybe vist)
in any case,go to the makers website and brows to support or downloads, they will have software and drivers.

your other option, which in my opinion works the best on any computer or camera,is simply to buy a usb cardreader for your memory stick.

insert the cam memory into usb adapter, and plug into ANY comp.
it's that simple!!

You need to install the correct software on your computer. They are usually called drivers. Here is a link to the Canon Rebel Xt page from Canon with all sorts of goodies you can download. The most important section to get things going for you is the drivers. Select your OS from the drop down list, download and install. If you don't have drivers your PC or Mac doesnt recognize the fine piece of hardware... your camera. Hit me up if you're still stuck.
