i have the same problum. i got the dvd player from my friend who has an hdtv and didnt use the red white and yellow jacks (which i have it running through) so i think its still set up to run through the hd jacks. i had no picture or sound and you could clearly tell it was running because of the display screen on the dvd player.
i was messing around with the remote and pushed the PICTURE NAVI buttin then hit up a few times and pushed enter and that gave me sound. im going to mess aropund with it a little wile longer and if i dont figure it out im going to take it to my friends house and set it up for the standerd jacks thru his tv. if that works ill tell you how to fix the problum step by step

It is probably in "progressive scan" mode, which is only viewable on Component (RGB) inputs. Refer to manual to toggle back to "interlace" mode. Either that or you have the TV on the wrong input.

We gave an Emerson 50 tv. The picture is too large for the screen. For instance, you can't see the score for the football game. On the remote, I adjusted with button on the remote for picture size.

Just initialize the TV. It will make it alright to factory conditions. Proceed.
1. Turn the power on.
2. Enter the service mode.
- To cancel the service mode, press [POWER]
button on the remote control unit.
3. Press [BACK] button to enter the Panel Key
Confirmation Menu.
4. Press any button on the touch sensor panel.
5. Press [INFO] button to proceed with the self check
mode.
6. Make sure to confirm the "INITIALIZED FINISH"
appears in the green screen.
7. Unplug the AC Cord and plug it back on again.

After initial set up and download, TV is displaying a hand on power plug picture with a red circle and line through it and a refresh symbol in light blue next to it, what does this mean?

Hi! and Welcome to Fixya!

What you have on the tv screen is a warning sign that your tv is currently updating its software. A hand holding a power plug with red circle on it says do not unplug the tv while its running the software update. The usual time for the update to finish is 60 minutes. It may took more than 60 minutes if you have a slow internet speed. This is normal especially if you are running the software update for the first time during the initial setup. The next time tv performs software updates it will take shorter time.

However, if the updates took more than two hours, the tv may be frozen. You can unplug and plug it back in and start from the initial setup again.

On some rare occasion, the tv may not proceed with the initial setup. You may have to turn off your modem to complete the initial setup. when initial setup is done, connect your tv to network and run software update again.

Let me know if you still have other questions.

Dvd player dvd does not show on tv screen

swop the TV back over to what ever you use for watching TV i.e.........HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 / AV 1 / DTV / etc.
Use the AV or SOURCE button on the TV's Remote, not your receivers remote or SKY remote.

I bought a new TV for my #2, but is says I'm not getting a signal when I hook it up to the cable. I have it on channel 60

djpeter770

You can go to TV 1 to make sure TV 2 is suppose to be set to channel 60. Did you run the auto setup on your TV? If you have already run the auto setup on your TV, unplug the receiver from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. This will make the receiver reboot and re-acquire satellite signal. Then see if you get a picture on your TV 2. If not, the last thing you can try is changing the channel from 60 to 73 through the receiver.

With your DISH remote at TV 1, press the Menu button - Main Menu will display on the TV 1. Then press 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 5 (Modulator Setup). On the Modulator Setup screen, move over to TV 2 Out and select Cable, then press select on the remote. This will automatically change the channel from 60 to 73. Highlight Done on the right and press select. Cancel out of each screen till you get back to the TV screen. Go to TV 2 and put the TV on channel 73. You should get a picture. I hope this helps.

Modified Picture Settings Reset Each Time TV Is Turned Off/On

Your TV may have been put into shop mode or demo mode. How to get out of "Shop Mode"

1. Press [Source] to get to the Air or Cable input on the TV or TV remote

2. Press [Volume +] once on the TV itself (not the remote)
Next step must be completed while the volume bar is still on screen

3. Press and hold [Menu] on the TV itself (not the remote) for about 7 seconds
If the screen flashes "Dynamic Mode", the process worked

4. Finally check whether the Picture Mode is "Shop Mode" or not after passing "INFO" on Remote Control. If picture mode is still in “Shop Mode” try the alternative way below

Alternative Method

Press [Source] on TV remote to get to the AIR or CABLE input
