QB sunset their products after three years. In my experience they will not issue new validation codes if the software is more than 3 years old. You'll need to speak to QB in your own country, as the codes differ.

You can order recovery CD from Dell. Or altenatively, buy Windows XP in retail package at your local store (or used on eBay). By the way, you can install from a borrowed XP CD, since you have a valid serial number. (You will need the serial number from your borrowed CD and you may change the serial after installation).If you go on the later (and affordable solution) I can send you links to download FREE utility to change the serial.
Why not call Magellan's Technical Support and raise the issue of misleading advertisement. If you argue it as well as I did you will end up with YOUR OWN VALID code based on the serial number of your unit FREE OF CHARGE.
Hello. Some softaware used some unique datafrom your computer to generate licence key for the software (like HARD DRIVE serial number or motherboard serial number) and if your licence is generated by this algorhytm then your licence will be not valid anymore. You will need to contact software manufacturer and ask them about that. I hope this will help you :)
