This is a bluetooth mouse, if you have used it before then you'll need to remember how to sync it with your computer ( you should have some sort of bluetooth manager window that will be able to find the moue and communicate with it.
If you haven't used it before you might not have bluetooth built into that computer ( i have an inspiron 1525 and i don't )in which case you'll need to buy a bluetooth dongle which  will plug into your USB port and will communicate with the mouse for you.  The dongles are pretty cheap though, here is a link to one for 2.54$ http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866

Touch pad not working on Dell Inspiron 1525

My daughter has the same laptop and I went to Dell's web site and checked on the parts to buy. The keyboard kit that came with a new touch pad would be around $119.oo. She is going to wait until next pay day. Check it out and have a friend replace it, if you do not want to.

Dell Inspiron 1525 not connecting wirelessly to Sky broadband

If your wireless router is configured with SSID, encryption, MAC address filtering (if enabled) etc. then the Dell wireless card needs to be configured with these settings to allow it to communicate with the wireless router.
Check the settings on your PC's wireless settings, and configure the Dell the same way.

How to connect blue tooth mouse to dell inspirom 1520

Hold on... are you sure that you have a bluetooth mouse or do you have a wireless mouse with "pen drive" like dongle? If it is with a dongle, it probably is a common wireless mouse which operates on its own wireless frequecy. You may have a driver CD that comes with the mouse or it simply works "plug and play". However, there are bluetooth mouse too, in this case you just need to turn on your bluetooth on the PC and pair the mouse with your PC just like any other bluetooth device. In either case, a LAN card in not involved. Hope this helps.

The USB/wireless mouse does not work on my Dell Inspiron 1525

make sure there are no power cables close to the mouse or receiver, I have seen this cause problems many times.

Also try pressing the connect button on the receiver then keep pressing the connect button on the mouse until the receiver light stops flashing
