go to crucial memory and download their memory scanner. it will tell you how much memory is installed and what the max is per slot on any computer. hope this helps
The maximum your laptop can hold is 1GB total and max 512mb per slot. So you would have to purchase two 512meg sticks. Below is a compatible part number for a 512meg stick.
Part #: CT235972 • SDRAM, PC133 Cheers, Ravi Shanghavi
The memory bay is a part of the motherboard. Try each stick in each bay to make sure that the problem is the motherboard itself. Sometimes memory is incompatible with a particular laptop. Sometimes there is a maximum allowable memory. The maximum for your PC is 2 GB.
Here are the max memory and speeds: Lat C640 is Max 512M per stick DDR-266 (PC2100) or DDR333 ( PC2700 ) for a total of 1024 Meg
Lat D520 is either 2 or 4 Meg total. DDR2-667 ( PC2-5300 ) Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.Maximum memory for systems with the Intel 945GM chipset is 4096MB, maximum memory with the Intel 940GML chipset is 2048MB Lat D430 has only slot with a Max of 1 Meg. You can use DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) or DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)
Lat D420 is a max of 1.5G . Use 1GB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)
Inspiron 2200 is one slot with a max of 1280 Meg. recomended is 1GB DDR-333 (PC2700)
Here is a link to find almost any memory you need: http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx
NOTE: When mixed speeds in the same PC, the memory will run at the slowest speed installed or the highest speed allowed by your system, whichever is slower.
Your motherboard is bad or there might be something in the slot preventing the memory from seating properly.Check if there is something in the slot preventing the memory from seatting properly.good luck
Honestly In the long run you will be better off buying a cheap new laptop.
Dual core or similiar.
But lets see. You can upgrade the cpu, memory and the hard drive.
The laptop supports Maximum of 72 MB of Ram by installing a matched pair of 32-mb memory modules in the memory upgrade sockets on the main board. Theres 8 MB build into the motherboard so you will have total of 72MB with 8MB on the board and 64 in the slots. Thats the maximum memory you can have. You could try a biger module at your own risk. (may not work)
the NeoMagic 2093 video controller is integrated and can't be changed.
What is the model of your LM? for example Lm M166ST You should be able to upgrade to 166MHZ or more.
I don't know how big of a drive the computer supports, but Id guess atleast double? possibly more, I don't know whats the bigest size supported.
