I just got a Capresso GS 464 coffee maker with grinder. There is a terrible burning plastic smell coming from the water reservoir area that affects the coffee taste. I bought one and returned it, getting a second one, thinking the first was uniquely defective. What is this smell and will it go away?

SOURCE: Coffee pot

durabrand has no contacts outside china this is a unit made for and imported for walmart only walmart is the only contact ...... your problem is not anything you or walmart can do anything about the problem is the cheap plastic that is used , when it gets hot some people can taste and smell it and others cant . .. its getting more common in everthing that heats water .. personaly i would not drink anything from an appliance that puts a plastic taste in my water ..... if you move up in price the problem is reduced , better plastics are used , but your not going to get one for 10.00 ! "you get what you pay for " more now than ever .... good luck Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob

SOURCE: Strong plastic smell and taste on a new Keurig Platnum coffee mak

I had the same problem and I discovered that after running 3 resevoirs full of water through the machine at 192 degrees , it got rid of the plastic smell. Set the cup size at the largest size mug and then just open the lid and close it , hit brew and let it fill the cup. Dump the water in the sink and repeat until you go through at least 3 resevoirs. The smell should be gone by then.

My capresso team gs #464 has steam coming out from every space in the machine. reserevoir is emptying slowly. I descaled it, still happening. what's wrong.

I had the same issue. If I poured 8 cups of water in the reservoir, I would only get maybe 4 cups of coffee, the rest boiled off as steam. In my case, it was an easy fix. Open the water reservoir and remove the black plastic water filter holder. Below the filter, there is a port where the water gets drawn into the boiler. In my case, there was a single coffee bean wedged sideways in the port, blocking off nearly all water flow. I fished out the bean with a metal pick, reinstalled the water filter, and the machine worked like new.

I want to descale my capresso 455 with white vinegar, and need instructions

Super easy and have done it for years. When water reservoir is empty fill with a small amount of white vinegar. Then add water until full. Wipe out other parts of machine. You won't want any grounds to hang around. Do not add grounds, but replace basket empty. Allow machine to cycle as if you were making coffee until reservoir is empty. Repeat process with clean water to flush out any leftover vinegar taste. You may have to do it two or three times until the smell is gone. Using distilled water in your machine will keep deposits from forming.

How to reset descale function on Capresso coffee maker

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
    • 1 Unplug the coffee machine and remove the cup.
    • 2 Turn the coffee machine upside down over the sink in order to fully drain it of water. Be careful of the plug and avoid getting it wet.

    • 3 Pour undiluted white vinegar into the reservoir up to the top edge of the viewing window.
    • 4 Place a ceramic cup under the machine, plug it in and press "Brew" for a large cup. Pour the cups of vinegar into the sink and repeat the process until the reservoir is empty.
    • 5 Remove the final cup of vinegar and empty it. Fill the coffee maker with clean water and allow it to sit for four hours, remaining on.
    • 6 Unplug the machine and dump the water into the sink.
    • 7 Fill up the reservoir with fresh, clean water and plug it in. Place the ceramic cup back on the drip tray and run multiple brews in order to rinse the machine of any remaining vinegar residue.

Recalls on keurig

Empty the reservoir of any water. Fill it back up with white vinegar. Get a paper clip and poke it up in to the needle that the water comes out of on the top of the lid. Run the vinegar through the machine until the reservoir is empty. You can even let the vinegar sit in the coffee maker for 10-15 minutes. Refill reservoir with purified water and run the maker until all the water is dispensed and the reservoir is empty. There should be no more vinegar smell. Never use tap water. Do this every two months. Note: if the area where the K-Cup sits gets dirty with grounds, put a large bowl under it and then pour a glass of water over the whole area to clean. Also, on occasion just run a cup of water through the machine (with no coffee) just to make sure that there are no grounds caught in the needle. Done!

Hi
Probably an internal Element has gone open circuit.
Machine is smart & senses not heating up so don't let water through.
Mine did the same thing. So I pulled it apart (with photos)
Found the heater element (Open). Found a replacement element after 6 weeks and replaced it in 2 hours.

Back to getting great coffee.. Ahhh

Fill beans message keeps coming up on jura capresso impressa s9

You need to open the grinder, it`s probably packed with old fine powdered coffee that blocks the outlet. Clean this out and try again. Since it works normal when you use pre-ground coffee, there shouldn`t be any problems with any other parts.

Let me know if you want a description for have to open and clean the grinder.

Good luck!

Coffee beans empty

Try changing the beans to a different brand I had this same problem with the brands that were around $30 a kilo but not with the cheaper ones. They seem to clump together and not drop in to feed the grinder. It could be that you just need to adjust either the internal or external grinder settings also.
