Screen split into 2 colours - vertical split

When using the monitor yesterday, suddenly the screen has split into 2 vertical sections. The left hand side is normal, but the right section is now a pale green in colour. Application windows eg browser window will show normal on the left, but will turn pale green when on the right. Is the monitor broken?

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, nothing has changed in the room and I am unaware of anything magnetic. Nevertheless, I greatly appreciate your trying to help and if you think of anything else, I will be pleased to hear from you. Regards, Ros

I have the same problem - the screen is split exactly down the middle vertically and the right hand side is turquoise, where the left hand side displays normally. I have used a Labgear make colour tv degausser which has not had any effect. Anyone with any other suggestions please?

Subtle Two Toned Split Screen Color Difference.I think I hit some button by accident. Monitor is great but now I have a split screen where the left hand side of the screen has a lighter tint than the right...

Hi. I have got the same problem, and it was very easy to solve. Monitor was LG. The problem was not in the system, it was in the monitor. I just clicked the buttons on the monitor, it was on the wrong setting that divides monitor in two colors, so if it happens to you, try checking your monitor settings, mine was set to "demonstration", half was lighter than the other one, just set it to usual or user. Keep in mind the settings are on the monitor itself, not in the windows (buttons on the monitor itself) Good luck.

I have a Sony 1410 LCD monitor, when it is powered up the screen displays vertical coloured lines on the left hand side for about 60 ml wide and the remainder of the the screen displays grey and black...

In most cases, this could be due to two factors. One - Your video card is losing life. Two - Your Sony monitor is almost dead. Simple way to trace the root cause is - borrow a monitor from your friend or someone and check. If the borrowed monitor works fine - it is the video card, that should be changed. Else, go for a new monitor.

Lastly, often people forget to check the cables. Sometimes broken pins or bent pin at the connectors could cause the problem too.

Signal degradation across vertical section of

This appears to be a common complaint on LCD monitors. Some LCD screens have control issues.
An LCD screen is the panel and a bunch of Line control chips wrapped around the outer edge. A problem with one line top to bottom or left to right is almost ALWAYS the LCD panel itself.
A problem with a fixed band (The band is in the same place at any resolution) is often the LCD but might be the signal driver chip (A large plastic pack with about 100+ leads). A person with a VERY small soldering iron might be able to resolder it, but they MUST know what they are doing. (board must be heated, lead free solder, eye like an eagle...)
If the band moves around or changes width, it is the signal chip or the power supply to it from the power board.
It can be software if there is a firmware upgrade. This takes a shop.
