You may have a small leak in the evaporator. You could try to get a replacement freon with stop leak from the automotive store and give it a shot. If it is a R12 unit then it is too old to repair. But it is worth the gamble to shoot it with freeze 12 or an equivilent before you condemn it.

I have a Kenmore upright freezer model# 253.9260210. We noticed that our food was starting to thaw. I opened up the coil area and noticed a small piece of ice on the coils. I melted the ice and turned...

Feel top of the compressor and tell me how hot after it has been running awhile. I need also that you advance the defrost timer=>. 216517400 Defrost Timer

clockwise slowly untill the compressor stops or starts. I need to make sure the timer is not stuck into defrost. I want you to leave the compressor off for up to 35 minutes. If the freezer compressor doesn't restart bt then simply again turn the timer clockwise slowly until it does and then stop turning. The defrost timer is location 23 in this photo HERE If you need to turn the defrost timer like this to restart the compressor then replace the defrost timer and this will resolve the freezing problem. If not we move to the defrost heater location 14 in the sme photo=> 216254600 Defrost Heater

I have a Frigidaire freezer LFFU1424DW not freezing. Came home to melting ice and thawed food. I heard clicking noise like a fan but goes off after a few seconds. Help please.

first of all unplug that freezer and wait for 15 mins. move it five feet from the wall. after 15mins, plug it back and kick in compressor at the same time!!!! remember plug and kick at the same time. the ckicking noise come from the starting relais. this says that the compressor has a problem. If it doesn't work ; you will have to call a service person who will replace the compressor for you.

My Kenmore up right freezer is not working properly. The fan in running however the condensor will come on for a few seconds and then turn off. The food is thawing out in the freezer and water is dripping...

When you say condensor you probably mean compressor. If the big metal motor at the back is making that noise that is your compressor. The compressor is either bad or the relay for the compressor is bad. I recommand replacing the relay first since it is your cheapest solution and then if that doesn't solve it then you can decide if you want to replace the compressor or not as this is not something you can do yourself and can be quite costly to do if you have a technician do it. Hope this helps.

Food in freezer is thawing, compressor very hot to the touch

It sounds like the motor to the circulating fan is wearing out . This fan is hard to diagnose as it will spin the blade , but as you said it will not spin fast enough to circulate air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The motor is DC non brush type. It will cost a minimum of $300.00 to repair/replace this fan assembly, but it is worth that compared to replacing the refrigerator
