Bought a new RCA TV for my elderly aunt to avoid the need for a converter box on her old one. She has no cable, only rabbit ears. The poor lady only watches 2 shows, one on Channel 2, one on Channel 7. She is so upset because Channel 7 keeps going out- "No Signal." Any help would be most appreciated
The antenna may be the problem in your case but I was getting New York 7 digital with a strong signal before the transition on June 12th and now I do not get any signal. I use a rather large VHF /UHF roof antenna mounted in my attic. The compass heading for NBC NY 4.1 is 169 deg and 18 mile from my location according to antennaweb.org. I get this channel with a strong signal. Comparably ABC NY 7.1 is 170 deg and 18.7 miles from my location and I do not get a signal. Perhaps ABC NY is having some problem with the transition. It does not make sense assuming the information of antennaweb.org is correct. BTW if and outdoor or attic mounted antenna is not an option I would recommend the following antenna. I used this for my friends? setup when she was having problems with rabbit ears. It also got some pretty high user reviews and is not expensive. It is for both indoor and outdoor applications. Good Luck! http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10901&cs_id=1090102&p_id=4730&seq=1&format=2
You're going to need a better antenna than just those rabbit ears unless you live very near the station. At the very least you should get an amplified type, and you might need to consider something outdoors.
Go to www.antennaweb.org and click on the "choose an antenna" button. This will start a process so you can find all the stations you might get in your area, and their direction and distance from you. (They want address information, but just to narrow down your location. You can enter just a zip code if you want.)
I live in Palo Alto and have trouble with Channel 7 especially when it is foggy or rainy. We have a fairly new antenna on the roof. It is set up with two extensions. Would a third extension to the pole help?

Gotta know the territory on this one, with respect to the location of receiver and transmitter and
any obstructive topography that intervenes.
I have the same problem in Central Jersey. The explanation to your problem is documented here.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01pgKPoQ...
