Maytag Oven MER5770AAA gives F9 code and won't operate (won't heat or self clean) I cleaned oven by hand with overnight oven cleaner. Now I get F9 code. Please help me solve my problem. Thanks! mary
Re: Maytag Oven MER5770AAA gives F9 code and won't...
F9 is a door latch problem.Check the door latch components. It actually means that the machine is not detecting the door closing. There might be some purchase of parts to rectify this problem.

F9 stands for oven no heating. It will be displayed if oven temperature readout when oven temperature doesn't exceed 150F/66C in less than 5 minutes from set time. I would say you may have a heating element malfunction..
Check outlet voltage, a 240v circuit breaker can trip halfway and not be visibly tripped when looking at the breaker panel... 120v will operate the oven controls, but will not heat the elements...
Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door. You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.
If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.
F9 Door Lock Warning Check door lock circuit or Replace Clock F-2 Oven temperature sensed by electronic control Replace the clock/relay board. Here is the part you need to order.
The F9-3 error code means that either of the two oven self clean latches is stuck so ya need to check and see in both ovens if their is something from obstructing the lacth
if you also get a F9-4 that would mean its just the lower oven
Oven Cleaner can be used instead of letting the ovens "Self Clean". This error report you are getting could be a couple of things, 1 the oven latching mechanism may have gone on the blink (this is the part that locks the door during the cleaning process to prevent any opening of the door during cleaning) 2 it could be that the oven will not reach the self cleaning temp. any longer (this temp is much higher than the hi broil) Good Luck
its related to the self clean ltach motr, if you pull hte unit out and drop teh rear panel, approx halh way down on theright side( when behind unit) thers asmall lock mechinisn mavbe 1.5 round, with a connecting rod 2 wires and a witch, well that motor sometimes as it heats looses connection with the switch. the switch is monitoring door positoin so if it loses contact it thinks the door is open and will trigger a code. the entire latch is replacabel (FRont to back comesa sone assy latch motor swittch and rod. 2 wires connect it and 2 screws(by front latch secure it. if youtry to replaceit your self i giveyou the heads up to lie a yard stick on top of latch before removing old latch (thos will keep the insulation in place) andthen when installe ing new latch also use hte ayrd stick ontop to keep insulation inplace!!!!!
