Disconnect all the output wirings. Just supply the amp itself, and switch it ON. If it doesn't show any protection, make sure that the wiring to speakers have some short in between car chasis. check them, by connecting one by one, and find out which one makes the trouble. Cehck it well. If the amp does show protection even after disconnecting all the outputs, make sure that the internal circuit of the amp has some trouble, and the set needs service. OK

Red light is on if:
- thermal protection, overheated amp, bad thermo sensor
- DC at speaker terminals
- high current at output transistors
Also could be a protection circuit malfunction.
In any case you need new channel module or send your module or whole amp for repair here.

I'm having the exact same problem.. The only thing is to buy a new phone. There's a malfunction in the enV's, and there's no possible way to fix it. I don't think your battery is getting up to 140 degrees, that's the only way it can overheat. It's a glitch. All phones have them, this one just happens to screw you up..

Yes it has a protection mode, let it cool for while then try it again, if it over heats quick make sure you're not running the amp below its stable impedance.

YEA CHECK THE OHMS ON THE SUB TO MAKE SURE THEY MATCH UP TO THE AMP JUS SOUNDS LIKE THE WIRING IS OUT OF PHASE.

If the amp stays in protect mode all of the time, I would suspect a short in the speaker wiring or speaker(s) voice coil(s), or perhaps a faulty ground. If it plays for a short period of time and then goes into protect mode, it is most likely overheating. First check all of the wiring. Test your speakers on a known good amp and make sure there are no places in your wiring where the insulation may have been damaged, causing an intermittent problem.

Many owners have reported that this particular amp has a tendency to overheat. Also, when run in bridged mode, the speaker impedance needs to be at least 4 ohms. It will overheat if the impedance is below 4 ohms.

Hey there..Sorry.When the amps are over powered they blow the main circuit and short causing the amp to turn on the right back off to protect mode.That you will have to send in to get fix..Look behind the amp and see if theres any wires touching or grounding out.My favorite amps are from onkyo and believe me i've done this a few times to 5 aps I've had.So I up graded to the tx sr 906 It rocks and will blow every speaker I have before the amp will go..Hope this helps you and good luck..Have a great day...

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally (doesn't go into protection), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

like many other problems people have with amps it is usally a ground issue, grounds have to be in very good spots especially with high power amps, move your ground to a different spot, with zero guage wires really is all you need, double grounds would be inopropriate here. hope this helps
