The Canon software for viewing images, ImageBrowser Ex, hung up and wasn't working. So I reinstalled the software. Now I can't transfer my pictres from my camera to my computer. I get the message "Connection software for another Canon camera is already running. The software cannot be launched. How do I "disconnect" the old software and/or get the software to recognize my camera???

  • Merrill Beckstead Aug 27, 2013

I took the suggestion of going directly from my camera to the computer. I found an adapter that would work and that has solved my probem.

    thank you.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Canon VIXIA HFM50 will not connect to mac

There is no problem with downloading videos from Canon Vixia HFM50 to your Mac IF YOU RECORD in MP4 format. To do that, go to Home and change Recording Standard from AVCHD (which seems to be the default) to MP4. Your movies can be emailed, shared on facebook or shared on youtube. You do have to download the software - ImageBrowser EX and Camera Window - that are on the CD included with the camera or you can search for them and download them.

I am transferring images to my computer, which I have done before. Now I am getting the message "Save folder not found?" Have I moved it? Do I need to create it? How? Where? Please help....

My solution is to unistall your current canon software that holds 15 canon components in your computer. You will find them under system task and select remove programs. After you have uninstalled the program, reinstall your "Canon Digital Camera Disk" and follow their prompts. Now you should be able to transfer images again as per normal.
I have answered this question in detail under another question postered by "whitecar631" under canon "save folder not found" canon sd1100.
This worked for me, but I don"t know how to prevent it happening again. I do know the day I lost all "my pictures", I had previously deleted a large file in my documents. I also experienced "save folder not found" when I tried to transfer images from my canon ixus 100.
I was lucky enough that I had all of my original SD Flash Media Cards, so could transfer all my photos again. I have since put all my photos into labelled folders instead of dates and images.
Hope this helps, it appears to be a problem in the canon program. Joyce

Lost ImageBrowser software for my Canon G9, I can only find places to get the updates - where can you get a full version download from?

The update of Zoombrowser EX is the full version. Just download it from Canon USA support or download.cnet.com.

Can i download video from canon a590 to pc?

Install and use the software that came with the camera. It's either ZoomBrowser (for Windows) or ImageBrowser (for Mac). This will allow you to download both still images and video clips from the camera.

New computer. No Canon sofware. Canon Rebel EOS purchased second hand. Where can I get the software to download the pictures?

Hopefully you have the EOS Digital Rebel. (The EOS Rebel was a film camera.) Without the software that came with the camera (ZoomBrowser EX for Windows or ImageBrowser for Mac), you can only download JPG images using the PTP communication mode. The communication mode is set up in the Menu system on the camera, and is either "Normal" or "PTP". If you want to download RAW files, you will need to use a software application that has a converter for Canon RAW files (Photoshop, etc.). If you didn't get a User's Manual, you can get one here.

Canon 20d raw to pc

Have you ever been able to view the pictures on your pc?
Have you got a card reader that can view the card contents externaly from the camera?
I found the Canon software is quite as happy from a card reader as it is reading from the camera. (I have the next model up, 30D.)
Have you tried upgrading your software, or tried using a third party image program to read the raw files?
