These are ideas only as there are many things that could improve gas mileage.
When was the last time you had a tune up? (Spark plugs check for bad sensors . When was the Air filter changed..
do you always check the air pressure in the tires. Low tires can bring your mileage down five miles per gallon or more.
Do you drive with fast starts and stops.
Do you run short trips? Short trips does not let the engine warm up to the right traveling temperature. I live in town and I get about 15 miles per gallon in town but if I drive 20 miles or more I get 24 or more with my Buick.
You will get less mileage if you drive in real cold weather.
You would need to check with a local garage for repair prices.
To find your average mileage, fill up the tank, write down the mileage, then do it again at around 200 miles. Divide the mileage traveled by the number of gallons used. I would recommend filling up after you have used about 8 or 9 gallons to prevent running out of gas. You can't go by the federal mpg numbers because everybody drives differently.
replace front fuel pump because gauge is made into fuel pump and not serviceable. Or poor boy way of getting by would be fill front tank with gas reset mileage drive normal for a day. refill again with gas note gallons used and mileage driven for average miles per gallon. front tank should be around 17 gallons multiply by mile per gallon you figured
One tank of gas is not enough to compare mileage. Or are you saying the computer's readout of mpg estimate is showing less? Try a tank or two of premium and see if that helps. Keep track of gas mileage. Driving techniques have a lot to do with gas mileage, as does long trips vs. short trips, highway cruising vs. city driving. For best mileage, do regular maintenance and keep the car in top running condition-good spark plugs and clean filters and clean oil ! Attend to minor problems before they escalate. If you want to check actual miles per gallon, start with a full tank. Write the odometer reading down, and go. Everytime you put gas in, write down the amount. When you are close to 1,000 miles from the time you started, go fill the tank and include that amount of gas to your previous list. Now add up all the gas used and divide it into the miles to get miles per gallon. (976 miles/31.8 gallons = 30.69 mpg ) . Only one tank will skew your numbers, might be off cause the tank was filled more to the top than the previous fill-up. About a thousand miles of driving will give you a very accurate figure of miles per gallon for your car.
The o2 sensors are located on the exhaust system. The upstream in on the rear exhaust manifold and the down stream is in front of the catalytic converter.Usually when they are bad they will make the check engine like go on.Make sure the air filter is clean, tires at correct inflation, alignment is to specs. If the vehicles pulls to one side or the other or steering wheel is not straight when driving down a straight stretch of road. Also tires are wearing normal.Use cruise control where ever on highway. If you let your vehicle warm up in winter. This also uses gas.Hope this helps.Good luck.
I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.
Lost gas mileage. I would have to assume that you are not getting the require mile per gallon. For example If the car book say 32 miles per gallon. You are getting about 20 to 25 miles per gallon. If you want to improve the your gas mileage then you have to do the required maintenance Oil change every 3000 mile tune up as required Air filter If the wiring spark plug wire is old and crack then it need to be replace. If you park out side and the batteries is about 5 years old have it check If you buy the car new, you will have a car book follow the maintenance routine. If you have done all the maintenance and the gas mileage is low than recommended then take it to a shop to figure out if some thing is wrong or not preforming as it should. I do hope this help you.
