error code 5100 means print head temperature rise error. In other word the print head is overheated. First, turn off your printer for some minutes (it recommended to take about 30 secs or more) and let it's cooled down. Turn on again. If the problem still persist, try to check whether the print head is good or not by comparing with another print head. Be carefully, sometimes this problem is caused by short circuitry inside the print head.
Try taking the cartridges out completely, look for ANY debris, no matter how small, and clean it out. Reset the cartridges back into place carefully and try again.
Cancel printing, turn off the machine. Then clear the jammed paper or protective material that is preventing the FINE cartridge holder from moving, and turn the machine on again. If not remedied, turn off machine, unplug the power cord of the machine from power supply. Plug machine back in and turn power back on. If problem is not resolved, please contact service center. Hi, try to turn off the printer for 5 min. and unplug the power, and then turn it on again, this worked for me, and apparently this error associated with all Epson printers, mine is 8300
Try this... it worked on my MP450... Turn the printer on and open the lid, it shows the cartridges. Now let the cartridges settle to the left. You can notice that the cartridges run on a metal belt. It might be dirty, mine showed a black stripe on it. Take a cloth, a cleenex will be fine and clean it up. Move the cartridges to the right (force them with your hand) and clean the part of the belt left behind them. Now turn it off, close it up and turn it back on. It should work
My converted iP1200 is currently blinking green, yellow, green, yellow on the power lights after start up and print request. The pop-up prompt suggests turning off the printer and turning it back on. Error 5100 is always seen.
