Static The walkie talkie not brodcasting sound correctly. It is very quiet if you call it from the other unit, and goes into static after the call untill you call the other walkie talkie. Everything else seems to work fine. I think it might be a loose wire. I got them at a garage sale, so I do not know what model it is. It is orange and black if that helps, and it has a model RC6488 charger. It has a battery model BP38. How can I fix it?

You are describing an open squelch. If this unit has a squelch control, adjust it until it quietens.
If the battery voltage drops below a certain point, it won't squelch. That could be caused by a battery that needs to be charged or a bad battery that won't charge up correctly.

Well, it IS the squelch level. Most radios do not have an adjustment for this. Take the bad one back, you've done all the tests you can. Good job.

Sometimes a lot of static can be an indication of a bad or poorly charged battery. To check for this trade batteries with your known good radio and see if it solves the problem.

Static noise rx

Check your batteries. Static can be a sign of a bad or low battery. Swap batteries between the units to see if the problem moves to another radio.
Also, check your antenna and antenna connection.
Best regards.

Constant static midland walkie talkie

Doesn't it have a squelch adjustment?(it allows you to adjust sensitivity of the "gate" on the receiver).Turn the knob counter-clockwise until it just goes quiet. The receiver will be silent until a transmission is detected.

One of my T4500 radios does the same thing. When I transmit or the radio is receiving, the interval is interrupted and it takes another 12 seconds to make a popping noise. Weird! I tried to post this as a comment but FixYa kicks out an error so apologies for posting it as a solution!
