The power light is just blinking red on my panasonic 1080i hdtv. cant even switch it off using the power button. picture and sound come on for about a second when the tv is switched on after power cord...

The power light keeps flashing and the tv won't turn on. If you unplug for a minute and hit the power button it sound like it is coming on then it shuts off and the red power light flashes slowly. The TV is a Panisonic 1080i HDTV, about 6-7 years old.

Panasonic HDTV 1080i Lamp out Panasonic 1080i 42" HDTV - - saying "lamp needs to be replaced, reset lamp" - - what does this mean and how do I fix it??

If the lamp is actually out - replace it - if the lamp is still working just reset the lamp hours - at 10,000 hours it automatically says that but it is just the lamp time needing a reset.

480i to 1080i?

It depends on which input you are using, but the HDMI inputs are auto detecting. Most likely whatever device you have connected is not putting out a 1080i signal, and needs to be configured to do that. Once you do, you should see the input icons on the top right briefly come up, and below the input number, you should see "1080i"
