Paper jam message on HP C4599 when there is no jam

I keep getting a paper jam message on my HP C4599 and have gone through all of the steps to clear it from the HP troubleshoot page and it still keeps showing a paper jam message. When I click ok after the message, there is a lot of noise and the cartridge doesn't move to the right when I open the cartridge door.

I had the same problem. I called HP and went through the steps they had asked me to go through to fix it. It took about an hour. Nothing worked. They offered me a replacement. I said no, and they offered me a $150 gift card for Staples.

I had the same problem, with my 2 year old 4599. I took it apart to expose the clear ribon where the home sensor resides. I used a damp paper towel to clean a lot of what appeared to be ink. This fixed the problem, I verified this by printing several test pages. To take it apart, I remove a total of 8 screws two on each side to remove the side panels, two in the front and two by the scaner lid in the back. Be careful as you will need to remove three cables to remove the top. This exposed the ribon completely. You may be able to clean the ribon with the front cover lowered. Good Luck!

i followed the above instructions and it worked initially, however after a very short time later it happened again. i've cleaned the ribbon once more but this time it hasn't resolved the issue... very frustrating as the machine has had a fairly easy life and should have lasted much, much longer. no more HP for me....

What I have discovered is two bad caps on the board that the ribbon cable is attached to. 2 caps at 330uf 6.3 volts

SOURCE: I keep getting a paper

Follow the below instructions:
First try this (click here) and verify that there's no actual paper jam.

Now follow the steps below:
Remove all the cartridges, clean the gold contact on the cartridges and on the printer with soft cotton dampen with alcohol/acetone /spirit.
While the cartridges are kept for drying, do the following:
Turn it off > Disconnect usb cable, power cord, inthernet cable; >remove the papers from the tray >open the back panel door (the rear door where you clear paper jam). Also turn off the mains switch which the dc adapter is plugged in. After keeping it Off for about 5 minutes, turn on the printer again with only the power cord connected, keep tapping the cancel button while it boots up and again leave it On for few minutes > turn it off > connect all the cables > again turn it On and keep pressing the power button while it boots up. Now you can install the cartridges. Check the status message. It should work fine now.

[Note: please don't touch the gold contacts and the printheads with your hand, you may damage them permanently]

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hp color laserjet pro mfp m283fdw paper jam in tray 2 can't see paper

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Clear the jammed paper: Open tray 2 and remove any jammed paper. Open the rear door and look for and clear any paper present or obstructions in the paper path. Open rear cover. Clear Jam. Close the rear door to allow the printer to attempt to clear the jam message.

Check the fuser unit: If clearing the jammed paper doesn't resolve the issue, it's possible that the paper is stuck in the fuser unit or that the fuser exit sensor is broken. In this case, you will need to remove covers, flat bed scanner, and fuser to check for any obstructions .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz9cTnbuDbw

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

My brother dcp-560cn keeps jamming and making noises as if it is destroying itself have cleared all paper from jam and it still jams why is this

Step 1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
Step 2
Turn off the printer.
Step 3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Step 4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
Step 5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
Step 6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
Step 7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though.
Step 8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
Step 9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Inspect the paper path once again.

Paper jam error message..no jam

Hello There this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

I HAVE A HP OFFICEJET J6480 ALL IN ONE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT SAYS I HAVE A PAPER JAM. I HAVE CLEARED ANY JAM, BUT IT WON'T CLEAR OUT

Hp printer paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.
