I need the code for a yamaha HTR-5860

Pairing.
If its a universal remote, find out the code to program for the player.
These codes are numbers, usually three or four digits long.
If not a universal type, the remote might be non-compatible.

Did you check the manual? Did you contact the manufacturer of your universal remote for the code if they have it?

The volume keys should be working by default, but you may have volume punch through turned on (meaning the remote is sending signals for TV or CABLE volume function no matter what mode you are actually on). To unlock volume control for AUX mode, do the following:
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 993
4. Press and release VOL-
The remote should blink four times to confirm unlock.

Sometimes volume controls are held on by an Allen type screw, which can become loose, allowing it to fall off. You should see a hole in the knob if it is. You might need a long thin Allen Key to get it back on.
Otherwise have checked my spares guide (though it's a few years old) and it seems Yamaha might only do their own spares.

Have seen regulated voltages drop a volt on two causing this problem . the regulator with the low output needs changing. Voltages can be checked pretty easy at the one large connector coming from the regulator sectionto the dsp board.

Are you nuts? You dont need EQ to this system.This is such a nice syetem,inbuilt EQ gives very good output.Don't try to connect EQ if you are not an engineer.It can be connected with external source
