I have a pc that I have connected to the internet with.... when I try to load the installation cd that AAPT gave me it won't work on my lap top. The lap top is new but second hand. Can any one help?
When I loaded the internet function onto my PC, I just put the CD that aapt gave me in and it took me through all of the steps. When I try and do this with the lap top by putting the CD in it comes up with some sort of an error and the CD like closes.
I also want to load normal programs (up to date ones) onto the lap top as it only has 2003 versions of word etc.... can I use my friends software because it is asking me for a product number or some-thing.
Sorry I seem so stupid.... I reeeeally appreciate your help.

I'm sorry, but are you saying the cd won't run, or the cd is saying that you can't use aapt? Please clarify.
Toshibas have a manual on/off switch for their wireless module also, which will of course need to be in the "on" position to work.
Let me know please.
Thanks

Some internet service providers want to charge a fee for each computer you connect to the internet through them, So they setup DHCP to give out only as many local IP addresses as you pay them for. That's sort of like the water company charging you a fee for each faucet in your house... Assuming that's the problem... One way to resolve this, is to connect your wireless router's WAN port the ISP's modem, and configure DHCP in your router to supply as many IP addresses as you need to the wireless and the 4 LAN ports. In case you can't find your router manual, here's a link: http://static.fixya.com/Manuals/D/D-Link/_D524DWLG510_E6A38A81BDB9E5559BC01452A833ECE5.pdf Page 9 has the diagram you need. I would advise you to buy a newer wireless router, because this one only does WEP encryption, and WEP was cracked some time ago. I you really want to use it, Please be sure to enable the WEP security, and select 128 bits. This router has it disabled by default! (See page 13)
I am sure that you must have got a CD with the phone. This CD contains PCStudio 3.0. Please install it on your PC. Then when you connect the phone, its drivers would be automatically installed/loaded. Then it will connect to the net.
When you restored the pc, did you make sure the drivers where re loaded.
Have you tried control panel / internet options / connections / lan settings.
It should have automatically obtain settings ticked
without the drivers on the motherboard cd ur sound and other hardware will not work. if u can connect to the internet u should be able to download the drivers, else u have to settle for no sound or change the motherboard
Install the softwares available in your CD,your CD should contain the driver software for your handset. Once you install the softwares, you will be able to connect to your computer.
If software is not available in your CD, then go to site mentioned below:
With regards to the internet, thats likely the connection, but Virgin should be able to give you an exchange test account to verify whether it's at your end or theirs.
The only thing I can think of for you to try is, boot into your computers BIOS and ensure the onboard audio is NOT disabled. Then;
1. Load the motherboard CD
2. See if you can locate the audio drivers
3. Launch the installer
Or
1. Boot into safe mode
2. Launch the setup from the download URL I last gave you for the drivers
If neither of those work, I'd be inclined to think you've got a problem with the onboard audio, in which case, I'd suggest trying an external card.
Make sure that all the wireless cards are set in the properties to obtain an ip address automatically, dissable the wired lan adpter connections as this can confuse the router.
Restart all the pc's and then right click on the wireless pc icon in your task bar and then click view wireless networks and make sure that you are connected to your network and that the internet is available, known as local & internet in Vista.
open up internet explorer, go to tools, internet options and delete browsing history cookies and temp files and then refresh the page as the proxy server will need to refresh.
You can use ur friend's software if it's compatible with the configuration of system. If it is not compatible then visit the internet to download the software so as to install it on your system. About the Key.. u can minimise the setup to browse the CD for the product key.
