My ps2 doesn't registaer that the card is in its slot when trying to save a game. It does register with no game through the configeration screen though. What do you think the problem is?
My son moved from home e took the PS2 memory card with him, and when he left, not only the memory card was working fine but the PS2 too. He left about two months ago and I decided to play a little. So, I just bought another Sony PS2 memory card, but the PS2 kept saying to insert the memory card. I did everything the instruction said, and I am used to use memory cards and change all the time. I went back to the story and exchange the memory card and it's still happening the same. Anything I need to do special? Trust me, my son loved his PS2 and was very caring about it. I know he didn't do anything bad to it. He said it was working perfectly when he left. You can't save PS1 games on a PS2 memory card. You need to buy a PS1 memory card to save PS1 games. The PS1 card will plug into the standard memory slot on a PS2, but the insides are different.
Prerequisites
There is no PS2 memory card slot in the PS3 so will need a Memory Card Adaptor. Sony made an official adapter but there are also a number of cheaper alternatives. Buy one online:
Go to the "Game" menu in the XMB and choose "Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)"
If the adaptor is working you should see an item called "Memory Card (PS2)". Below the title should be the size of the card and how much is in use-in my case "1334 KB / 7998 KB"
Press the controller's Triange button to get the Memory Card options. Select "Copy"
Select "Yes" to confirm the copy from memory card to the hard drive
Enter a name for the new Internal Memory Card that will be created on the hard drive, or leave the default name. I named mine "Original PS2 saves". Select "OK"
The data will be copied. If the amount of saved data is too large, the system will automatically create multiple internal memory cards
You may be informed that the new internal card has been assigned to a "slot". These slots are an emulation of the physical memory card slots in the PS2, so similarly you may only have two internal/virtual cards "plugged in" (assigned) at a time. The internal memory card must be assigned to slot 1 or 2 to be available when you run PS2 games
The new internal memory card should now be showing in the XMB, under Game > Memory Card Utility
Selecting the card will allow you to browse the game saves that were copied across!
You should try with another Memory card. Perhaps the one you're trying to use it Full, or has a bad chip in it. If it is doing it with other games as well, then Perhaps your PS2 has an issue. Try using the Other memory card slot. If none of these solutions works, try taking it to a friends and using their PS2. If this makes it work, then your PS2 has an issue. Contact Sony for repair and replacement options.
you cannot save another file until you delete previous one.Corruption occurs if the memory card is removed from console or if you reset the game while saving or loading game remember this also happens when you are saving or loading game and electricity turns off.
THis is simple. Either your memory card has not enough room, the memory card is broken or the slot you are putting it in is broken. Try putting it in the other slot.
When you choose to save when you are in any game, on the save screen you can choose to save to slot 2 provided there is a memory card inserted in slot 2.
