SOURCE: pixma mp600r scanning setup

Try turning off the windows firewall.
If that works, then add the Canon scanner app to the list of applications that are allowed through the firewall, then turn the firewall back on again.

SOURCE: When connected to Airport Express via USB, it will

Airport Express provides only a print server, not a networked usb hub so it can only print. I'm afraid you'll have to go back to wired for scanning.

SOURCE: Wireless printing does not work

For an effective wireless connection, the printer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of a configured wireless router. This way, every pc(mostly laptops with wireless capability) can print to the printer. You will need a wireless adapter for desktop pcs to access any resource made available wirelessly ok. Good luck

SOURCE: Canon ImageClass MF6540- works fine for printing,

Need some clarification about the error.
We need to know the exact error.
Generally all the scannars use TWAIN technology which bridges the scanner with WIA(windows imaging aquisition).
We need to know if WIA which is a part of the operating system is working. For diagonasting we can try using teh scanners and camera wizard from control panel or we can use mspaint even.
If WIA is working in that case the problem may be with the registry values of the scanner.
WE can try making a new user account with admin rights and then we can try installing the scanner. We can even try using Revo uninstaller for uninstallation of the scanner because it will remove all the entries from registry, then we can try scanning.
BEST OF LUCK.

SOURCE: I asked for the manual for the scanning function

Hi,

You can download the complete on-screen manual in .EXE format by clicking this link (File size 4.59 MB)

This manual has the detailed steps for scanning.

After downloading, install the manual by double-clicking the "mp150_ug_win_us_100.exe" file or clicking the "Run" button in the download complete dialog.

To view the manual, click the "MP150 On-screen Manual" shortcut icon on your Desktop.

Then select "Scan Guide" from the menu and click "Enter" button. (See attached image)

Ink doesn't run

If you are scanning wirelessly, you have to launch the epson scan software from your computer and scan to e-mail from there. You can scan using either professional or home mode.
Please take note that scanning from the printer only supports direct connection, which means you have to plug in the printer to your computer via a usb cable.
If you cannot launch epson scan, please let me know. And include the operating system that you are using too.

How do I scan on this unit?

Go to hp.com. Select DRIVERS. Enter your printer. Enter your OS. Drill down to the DRIVERS. Look for the one that does Scanning. Follow the directions. One of my printers at home is a 3030. Initially it was connected to my network via external JetDirect. I could not scan. I took it off the JD and connected it to my PC with a USB cable. Bingo...scans great.

Have a hp f380 all in one deskjet printer with M/S Vista OS

Hi,

Ofcourse, if there is any software or patch, there will be free on the HP website. However, as you have mentioned, that you are able to print, that shows that the printing software is working fine, to test the scanning part, please confirm that you are able to make a copy or not from the front panel of the printer by placing a text document on the scanner bed, close the scanner lid and then press color copy. If you are able to make a copy fine, that shows that the printer functionality is working fine.

The issue could be with the communication or with the scanning software. To check the communication between the printer and the computer, perform the following steps on the Windows XP computer or Vista computer, be sure that the printer should be connected directly to the computer via USB cable at the back side of the tower without any USB HUB, as you are using a Deksjet F380, it is a USB connectivity printer.

XP:
Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA (Windows Image acquisition)

1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.
2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.
3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

Vista:
1. Press Windows logo and R on the keyboard*.
It will open a small run dialog box at the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. In the Run box type WIAACMGR and press enter.
3. Follow the onscreen insturctions and complete the scanning.

If you are able to scan fine using the above steps, then it shows that there is a communnication between the printer and the computer.

Please get back to me with the exact error message you are receiving when you try to scan from the computer, as to scan from the printer you should be able to scan fine from the computer (i.e., From HP Solution Center/ HP Director). So that I can assist you in much better way.

With Regards.
Mike.

Computers not sensing scanner via LAN

Scanning over network usually requires software to connect. First go to the drivers page as below. Windows Vista | Windows XP, download the latest drivers (the Full Feature one) as well as the firmware update for the OfficeJet. Plus the "Update" files that's dated newer than the Drivers.
Upgrade the firmware (this will reset all custom settings in the OfficeJet like IP address) with a USB connection.
Run the full feature installer and if there is an option for Networked OfficeJet, then tick it. Also you may need to change/disable firewall for the installer to pick up the networked OfficeJet.
Scanning over the network usually connects with a customized TCP port. And most likely the Windows "Scanners and Cameras" will not pick up network scanners unless it's been defined manually (installer can do this part).

Scanning from wireless laptop

First of all, just use a USB cable, there not that expensive and it will be alot easier.

If you must use wireless. The laptop is trying to connect directly to the scanner or is there a print server somewhere, is there internet being used, is it connecting to another access point or wireless router?

Thes questions need clerifying.

Again. Wirless is supposed to be easy but we all know it isnt always true.

I would either Hardwire into the network or printer or connect direct to the scanner VIA USB.

Scanner or PC?

Neither is it a prob with the computer nor with the scanner.

Let me guess,

either is your usb connection cable longer than 2m or you have connected the usb printer/scanner cable to a usb hub.

Do use a cable no longer than a max of 3m and do connect the usb cable directly to the computer usb slot.
