Can't update or even find eTrust EZ Anti Virus on my computer

My anti virus tray at the bottom of my screen is flashing. I click on it and it says my anti virus has failed to update due to connection problems. I tried to download another anti virus but it said I already have an anti virus on my computer. According to the pop up screens and help screens I have eTrust EZ Anti Virus from Computer Associates on my computer but it does not even show up in my list of program files. I also can not find it with my SEARCH tool.

How do I find and update this program or find and uninstall it?

I was using SBC Global while in California. I moved to Oregon and am currently using Comcast. The problem was that my anti virus was part of my SBC Global package. I was able to contact SBC Global where they informed me that they use Symantac which uses Norton anti virus. I was able to contact and download Norton uninstall tool to uninstall the anti virus. I also uninstalled the SBC Global software (AT&T Yahoo) and that enabled me to install new anti virus software.

I cant open folders from my flash memory the problem is that my computer cant find file 0xFFD12566.exe

0xFFD12566.exe is a computer virus. You need to full scan all your drives, including your flash memory, using an anti-virus. If you don't have an anti-virus I recommend avira anti virus which you can download for free on this link:

Thanks for using fixya!

Update me if problem still persists after following my instruction.

My flashdrive wont open and says that it needs to be reformatted ?!?

Hello,

exactly the same thing has happened to me before, but I was able to solve the problem using Avira Anti-virus.

Here is what you have to do to get your flash drive working again;

Install Avira Anti virus on on your computer. If you don't have Avira anti-virus software, go to www.avira.com, on the Avira home page, you will see Free download. Click on the free download. Allow the software download on your computer. Go to the location where the software was download and click on the software to have it installed on your computer.

After the Avira nti-virus has been successfully or completely installed on your computer, insert the flash drive into the USB port of your computer.

The moment the flash drive is inserted, the Anti virus will pop out with a dialogue box alerting you about virus detected on the flash drive.

Select 'Delete...", and the box might pop out over and over. Just keep selecting delete until the whole virus is deleted from the flash drive and your flash drive will be okay.

You can format the flash drive thereafter or right click on the flash drive from 'My computer' and scan the drive with Avira anti virus.

This should fix the problem you are facing presently. But if it does not solve the problem, please let me know so that I can give the next step to taking.

Your sincerely.

I can't update my anti virus

Most anti-virus programs will auto-update once a day, or week, or some other period of time. However, if it's a manual update, then there are a few pages you could go to:
Norton Anti-Virus: http://updatecenter.norton.com//ManualUpdate?NUCSID=81&NUCVER=2&NUCLANG=zh_tw
CA: http://www.ca.com/us/support/gsa/Virus-Info/Virus-Signature-Updates.aspx
Avast!: (right-click on the Avast! icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, you might need to expand the system tray by clicking the triangle, highlight update, and update both options.)
AVG: (Same as Avast!)
As I said before, most anti-virus programs will auto-update.
I hope this helps!

Norton Anti-virus will not launch

If you have access to another computer download avast anti-virus and malwarebytes anti-malware and burn to cd or use a flash drive. Malwarebytes will remove that PC Defender rouge anti-virus software and any other malware you may have,

If you don't have another computer you can download the files to try booting into safe mode with networking. This option should allow you to download and install the programs above,

If your able to download them run anti-malware first. Let t fix what it can. Then install avast anti-virus, when asked if you want to schedule a boot time scan say yes, then when asked to reboot say no and open avast and update it, When prompted to reboot do so.

Hope this helps

Spyware

Download AVG free edition and run it to check for virus and trojan infection. Then run Spybot - also free.
