I have no manual and do not know how to use self-cleaning function. I have a Hotpoint electric self-cleaning oven. I can't find a manual and the only model number I can find is on the door PLT083-2. The latch door is shut, I turned the knob to self cleaning and the light just blinks for the self cleaning. The time says 4 hrs 20 mins. There is no start button for the self cleaning.

After sliding latch to its locking position did you press the self clean button on the control panel?

Replace the oven control module.It controls the bake and broil including clock and timer functions.

If you ran a self cleaning cycle and now the door won't open you may just need to wait a while. The door locks to avoid anyone from opening it as the over heats up to around 700 or more degrees to burn anything off. Sometimes what will happen however is that the heat will get to intense and cause the door lock mechanism to jamb. If the door doesn't open for you after a good few hours or so you can try unplugging the oven for a while to try and reset it. If not though you will have to go through the front panel and go down to manually unlock the door. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful.   I believe they make an oven cleaner for self clean ovens.  Don't try regular oven cleaner.  Ruins finish.
