Your old phone my have been for a digital phone line. The new phone only works on traditional telco analog. There are adaptors that your phone company has to make the line analog.

Phone reads line cord error please check. Everything is plugged in correctly so what should I do

Line error means that the phone is no able to detect a signal on the system that it is plugged into. There are a lot of causes of this. It could be a bad phone, bad cable, bad connection in the boxes in the wall or outside or the phone company may have disconnected it,

I've just bought the above phone and connected tomains to charge batteries and handsets show "line chord error" is this because the phone line has yet to be plugged in?

yes, it will either show line cord error, or no line. After phone is charged plug line cord in and it should go away if not check line cord or try another known good cord.

chances are your phone line is not a dedicated outgoing data transmission line : result of the phone companies keeping tabs on their property and its usage. if you are using a regular phone line, you have to call for the phone co. to add the data transmit feature.

No dial tone both units

You have almost left no stone unturned. It is either a bad base station or a bad cord between the base and the jack. Try a new cord.

Phone is dead! M7310

There is no power cord required for an M7310 set. The set gets all the power from the Nortel telephone system. Try plugging in your phone where another phone is active to ensure that your phone that you want to install is working. The phone flashes, then stops, then flashes, then stops... you just have to be patient when testing. Possible Troubles: -> It maybe the line cord, the cord that plugs in from the wall to the phone that can be damaged. -> the jack might be dead (wiring in the jack is pulled off) or inactive (there is no jumper from the office to the telephone system). -> the phone port from the telephone system might be dead.
