It sounds like the pickup roller is not getting a good grab on the paper. When this happens the roller can not push the paper up into the printer where the next rollers can grab it. this is a very common issue after a year or two of use. The pickup rollers and separation pads come in a kit that is available on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/HP-P2015-2015-Roller-Maintenance/dp/B00965WQYI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1377471140&sr=1-1&keywords=rk-p2015

SOURCE: Paper Jam HP LaserJet 1020

Papper never realy "jams" the problene is usualy that the paper is late reaching the next paper sensor. What i would sugest is that you clean the paper pickup roller it is usualy in the shape of a D. Clean it with dishwassing soap dont use water just clean soap rub it on with a clean cloth until the roller is dry so use a small amount. This should solve your prbleme.

SOURCE: laserjet 4345 mfp paper jam

13.20.00 can be also caused be a jam near the fuser (the part of the printer that gets hot to make the toner stick to the paper). Remove the toner cartridge and take a look for small scraps of paper along the whole path. Also open the door on the back of the printer and look for paper scraps from there. If you see paper stuck in the fuser, do not use anything sharp to remove it, be careful not to scratch the surfaces.

SOURCE: 13.01.00 paper jam tray 2

The pickup rollers are worn out. Replace them and your problem will be gone. While you are sourcing them, use some alcohol. This may give them a little more life.

Paper jam in tray 2 but there is nothing jammed.

Paper not being picked up, does it have a 3rd tray, take all paper out of tray 2 and see if you can get paper to feed from 3. Also make sure the lever on the cassette tray is in the normal position and check the menu in the settings. Some times the front registration area above the cassettes goes bad, not very common but does happen...place som toner on the wheels in tray two and try to print, see if the toner rubs onto the paper, if it does means wheels are turning, if not wheels are not turning....

I have an HP CP2025 and when it goes to print it says there is a jam in tray 2 but there are no papers stuck, no debris, nothing. It just tries three times to pick up paper and then says there is a jam....

Hello,

This is called a phantom paper jam and is caused by the printer not being able to grab the paper and feed it into the paper path to print on. There are paper pickup rollers right above the paper tray and when they get worn down they can not grip the paper so they slip. The printer thinks the paper is jammed because it never arrived in the printer. These rollers are user replaceable and come in a kit called RK-CP2025, they are available here:

I hope this helps,

I have a Laserjet p4014dn printer. it warms normally but once it picks up paper, it jams. i have dried clearing jam several times but on starting to print it jams

Three areas you need to check.1.Pick up area: While pick up roller picking up the paper, delay pick or no pick causes paper jam..
2.Registration assembly area: Once paper picked from the tray, paper leading edge registered by the paper sensor located under the registration assembly.. In case this sensor dusty malfunction or flag damage, paper wont sense. result paper damage..
3.Fusing area. If the paper travels up to fuser area, check paper jammed before entering in fuser(Teflon not rotating properly, replace teflon sleeve) or just crossed?(check paper sensors in fuser unit, clean the sensors & check flags, flag springs.

I have a HP CP2025 that will not pick up the paper from tray2 or print from tray1. It will pull the paper in from tray1, but it jams at the rear of the printer. It sounds like the printer is trying to pick...

It sounds like a blockage in the paper path at the rear of the unit. This unit picks from the rear of tray 2, and there is a separate path for tray 1 that conveys the paper above that tray and back to where it can intersect the main paper path. Sounds like you have a blockage where those 2 paths intersect.
Remove the cassette 2, and in that hole, there are 2 levers that allow you to lower the bottom half of the tray 1 bypass path. Look back in there for the tiniest scrap of paper left behind.
Next, if nothing is found, open the rear door, and again with a flashlight, look down in the bottom of the paper path for a small bit of torn paper, or some other obstruction. Odds are this is your problem.

Jams in tray 2

Table 7-10 Causes of tray 2 jams

Cause Solution

The feed or separation rollers are dirty, worn, or damaged. Clean the rollers. If they are dirty after cleaning, or if they are

worn or damaged, replace the rollers.

The pickup roller is worn or damaged. Replace the pickup roller.

The tray 2 paper pickup assembly drive gears are damaged

or the assembly is defective.

Check the drive gears in the paper pickup drive assembly.

Replace the pickup drive assembly if the gears are

damaged. See Paper-pickup drive assembly.

The tray 2 pickup solenoid (SL101) is damaged. 1 Disconnect the connector for the tray pickup solenoid

from the dc controller PCA (location J92).

2 Measure the resistance between the cable connectors.

3 If the measured resistance is not approximately

160 ohms for the HP LaserJet 4200/4300, or 110 ohms

for the HP LaserJet 4250/4350, replace the tray 2

pickup solenoid.

The tray 2 lifter-drive assembly or the stack position

sensor (PS107) is defective.

Replace the lifter-drive assembly. See Tray 2 lifter-drive

assembly and/or Printer switches and sensors.

The dc controller PCA is defective. Replace the dc controller PCA. See Dc controller PCA.

Dirty, worn, or deformed pick-up roller, cassette separation

roller, and cassette feed roller.

Clean the rollers if they are dirty. Replace any worn or

deformed rollers. The cassette separation roller and the

cassette feed rollare are to be replaced together.

Damaged gears in the cassette pick-up drive unit. Move the gears in the cassette pick up drive unit. If the

gears are not rotating correctly, or are damaged or worn,
replace the cassette pick-up drive unit.

Error message keeps appearing "paper jam in tray 2" although there is definitely no paper jam.

If you did not get ALL the jammed sheet out, there is still a small piece of paper in there somewhere, probably covering a sensor or micro switch. Get a torch and look carefully. If you don't find anything you may need to disassemble the printer to find it.
